Hi,
Yet again I'm after your advice.

I had a track day at Anglesey on Monday and in the morning it was going well and it was flying.

In the afternoon I went out and I lost all power and it pinged an EML light.

When I came in I plugged my OBD reset tool in and I read the 3 codes 1275, 1635 & 1221. These all lead to accelerator pedal position.

I've had this one before and cleaned the plug on the throttle peddle and everything was fine, so I did the same this time and went out again and it pinged the same fault again.

So this time I removed every electrical plug in the engine bay that I could find, and then went out. This time after about 2 laps it was stuttering and I looked at the AFR guage and it was low 10 and below, so I came in. I disconnected them all again and reconnect and it did the same.

I thought I'd possibly sprayed too much electrical contract spray on and so today when I had more time, I've taken them all off again, dryed then with an airline and hairdryer and team the car up again but it's still doing it. It's not pinging any fault codes any ideas how I can diagnose the problem? I'm not sure if it's misfiring? Maybe the plug to the injectors? Would this cause a low AFR?

Here's a link to a quick vid I did.

The connectors I disconnected are

-The coil pack
-The 3 connectors that are above oil filter which I think are for the injectors?
-The big blue and black connector below the cooling water reservior.
-The blue and black 4 wire connector below charge cooler reservoir.
-Then on the drivers side of the engine at the end of the fuel rail, a 2 wire connector that I think is for the WI and a 4 wire connector that fits to a small electrical box (1"x1")with bosch written on it. This is right next to the last fuel injector. Posted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted ImagePosted Image

Thanks for your replies, I've just taken off the coolant reservoir tank and air filter pipework upstream of throttle body so I can have a better look at the connectors and also to check the plugs in ecu. I've done one of the ecu connectors and that was immaculate, just moving hoses for the other.

I'm going to unplug the throttle body aswell while I'm there and give it a spray.

As far as I can remember I didn't here the fans cutting in.

I feel I have 2 issues, one was the throttle position pinging a fault and the other is the low AFR which I've caused by unplugging the connectors.
I've identified one is a boost sensor (as pictured) and I'm just jacking it up now to trace the other.

In regards to running a log file, is that using the Dutch software? As I've not got it 😢

Would this help me identify where I'm not getting a signal? Posted Image

the tmap sensor (in pic) can get wet from the water injection but you normally get a p1514 fault with this

im sure your car runs on dutch software.

The battery terminals look OK and are all tight but I will take them off and give them a clean.

I wasn't suspecting the map sensor, just trying to see what I disturbed.

Yeh it's definately on Dutch

You can download the clientsoftware from www.obdtuner.com

Then contact Peter via info@ObdTuner.com regarding the license key linked to your ecu, as that needs to be keyed in in the client software to work.

You will also need an eml 327 complaint obd cable, like this one.

https://www.amazon.c...&qid=1537438437

And a laptop of course, as the logfile is written directly to that.

Ok cool, I've just emailed Peter.

I've had a throttle position code pop up twice but after spraying the throttle pedal electrical connection it never came back and that is a couple of track days ago. Until Monday when it popped up again.

This new fault (low AFR) only came about after disconnecting and reconnecting the plugs.

I've just traced back the plug under the charge cooler and it is the first lambda sensor on the exhaust. Maybe this connector is dodgy? I'll try and get it out properly so I can inspect

That's great thanks I'll get one ordered, I take it I can't use the Bluetooth obd2 reader I have?

Peter got back to me today with a code so thanks for the tip. I'll get reading on how to do a log when I get the car back together.

I yeahs it, it's just in windows?

Bluetooth should also work. As long as it's elm 327 compliant.

More people report communication challanges with the bluetooth then with the cable though.

I used the amazon link asuming you need it fast. If you can wait a little more you can get them for 10 pound on ebay with free shipping.

Cheers Smiley,
I've ordered the lead and it should be with me over the weekend, I'm working all weekend so won't have time to run a log but hopefully figure out how to do it.

I have put the car back together again after disconnecting the plugs from last time and also cleaned the ecu plugs and throttle body plug, but it's still spluttering and low AFR. I was blindly hoping it would sort its self out 😢

I was hoping to do Oulton on 3rd Oct and Aintree on the 6th Oct, so time is running out.......

Well the lead came on Saturday night, so I did a 3 min log whilst it was in the garage, just so I could have a look around the software on Sunday, so I could find my way around it.

Today is the 1st chance I had to do a proper log and drive, but before I did I sprayed some brake cleaner in the map plug and coil pack plug as I was speaking to a friend in work and as I was feeling he thought the contact cleaner left alot of residue.

I warmed the car up and went for a drive for about 30 mins and it worked faultlessly pulling like a train and no sign of stutter or low AFR. WTF!! don't get me wrong I'm glad it's working but feel I don't know what caused it, in the 1st place.

The Weather's looking good so I think I'll do Oulton on 3rd Oct and test it in Anger.

At least I'll have the tools now to use if I need to identify a fault.

Thanks again for your help & support.
