Did oulton on 17th, did a session myself in the morning and then let my mate have a go.. came back with no brakes..pedal to the floor gone... no loss of fluid. Identified the sticky caliper, pushed piston out and cleaned them up but one side was not going back in.... removed pistons to find this!

initially thought it was a seal but turns out its a bit of heatshrink.... how it got there is an absolute mystery! Will be stripping system down one weekend and checking over the others. Just glad it never happened on the road.

Met the previous, previous owner at oulton too! (Ben) who owned it a couple of years back.

Anyway... put back together and didnt miss a beat for the rest of the day. Out drove a lot of 'faster' cars. Just lacked top end speed. Handled really well for a standard suspension. Think i'll be looking into freshening them up or going down the nitron route.

Maybe that black thing is a lining sheath from inside the brake pipes perhaps? If not, it's fooking hard to imagine how heat shrink would get in there. Mind you many of these cars have so many dimwits working on them, nothing much surprises me any more.

bought a spare wheel so will be sending it off for the royal steering wheel treatment. Decided on alcantara, never had one before and for the amount the cars driven it shouldnt get battered.

Definitely worth blacking out those lense covers “turbo style” while you are there.

Nice to see the attention to detail and keep up the good work.

small update, Ross is trimming my spare steering wheel. Gone for half leather / alcantara with green stitch.

Also....

Batmans on with piecing me together a stage 2 charger kit, will be dropping with him some time over january, cant wait! Also having some braided lines fitted for piece of mind after the oulton episode. Think i'd be more than up to doing it myself but a business venture is taking my time this year so more than happy to leave in his capable hands.

Very nice car indeed. This charge cooler radiator. will this sit under the main radiator?

If so you get warmer air to the main radiator on an Engine that needs to be even more cooled?

Yep chargecooler mounted under thé main radiator. Many SC speelster/vx220 ride this setup. Cooling thé engine is no problem. But you need to make a space/insulation between mainrad and chargecooler

The engine coolant is warmer then the coolant for the SC, so it's efefct is even the other way around.

Hence the advice to seperate the 2, and certainly not bolt them on top of each other.
Also the discussion of air flow, to remove 1 of the smaller fans, or for a track car to even remove them completely.

That I agree with smiey, I don´t understand all these cooling fans ppl are using.

I have one tiny fan on my car, and it´s enought in a cue in low speed to cool the engine.

In high speed no fan must be far more effective then 2 big fans.
