As above this question is aimed at those who either race or track their cars often.

Have you found that adding a stiff antiroll bar has increased your corner exit rear grip?

I am considering fitting one to my car (Elise 111r) as at certain circuits I struggle with traction out of tight bends. I have Hoffman nitrons 1 ways fitted and have found that adding more damping to the front does help but want to keep it sensible so braking isn’t affected.

My handling set up is: r88r 225 fronts, 245 rears. Ride heights 120 mm fr125mm r, camber 1.2 degrees front, 2.2 rear, open diff.

Any help greatfully received!

Stiff front ARB = understeer (if you don't change other stuff to accommodate). I don't think you'll get any extra noticeable rear end grip myself.

Do you get even wear on on your rears BTW?

Did it help with (not) spinning the rear tyres up out of tight bends Joe? I struggle with one tyre fire and just thinking the car would 'hook up' better if it was flatter

With sprinting the core problem you have is cold tyres. Is there not an e marked tyre that's more suitable? R888 need a good couple of laps to heat up makes you wonder if a road tyre might perform better for a single cold lap?

I have the 1" ARB front, and what everyone is saying it is making more understeer.

But my car seems to have a lots of grip out of corner. I don´t Think I have a LSD.

But it can be that the stronger ARB is preventing the inner rear wheel to lift.

I think this is the main answer I also struggle when sprinting hugh with corner exits
And on track days

I've changed various cambers and toe to try and conquer this but you end up moving the issue rather than solving it

Lsd has to be the answer

I Changed far to much on the setup of the car
ARB geo and shocks and springs

To really pin point what caused it

But saying that I still had the issue before allof the above

The truth is the more aggressive you are ( when competing ) you are always going to overdrive the car

To try a steal a advantage

a larger front arb will deffo give you more understeer if you just plonked it on, i had a day tweaking my shocks until i found something which made the car turn in again. i think now i have managed to find something good i would rather have it than not have it.. and i don't get many / if any problems with rear wheel spin, but the tyres were always up to temp.

do you have any pics of the car where you are experiencing the wheel spin from a track photographer or anything so we can see how the car is sitting?

what kind of speeds are you experiencing the wheel spin?

how tight are the corners?

what gear are the corners being taken in?

which track and corners specifically are you experiencing it?

Yh to be honest I’ve never had a traction issue with the lawnmower engine

Removing the arb helped loads in the wet and reduced spinning if that helps

Sprinting? Put belt dressing on your rear tyres. Just don't let anyone see you 😁

I put a couple of clicks extra front damping in at Curborough and it instantly felt less snappy and I got an improvement in grip. Lap time dropped half a second too so I know it’s a front roll rate problem.

I think I will give the 1inch ARB a go,

A little bit of understeer isn’t necessarily a bad thing especially if it’s on corner exit. My car rotates like a beast which is fun but not necessarily the quickest way around a circuit.

Looking at photos of my car on sprints I do get quite a bit of roll pitch on certain corners (Anglesey Rocket entry and the bus stop).

I am pretty sure a roll bar might make me a bit quicker on certain circuits.

Any one got one for sale before I raid eliseparts?!
