Hello all. I'm starting to look for my next car, one of the strong contenders is a VX220. I'm a glutton for punishment as this would be my third. It has been a while since I've been in touch with you 'orrible lot so wondered if there is anything new to look out for. When I was a regular on here I can remember a few costly/PITA things to look out for (in no particular order):

Toe links and HCB's replaced

Osmosis

Accident damage

Steering rack play

Leaky shocks

Engine mounts

Damaged windscreen (I had to have one replaced........wallet ouch)

Turbo turkey gobble gobble

Battery terminals

Heater box

Has anything new come up in the past few years? I seem to remember that some spares were becoming scarce, especially rear brake calipers?. I also vaguely remember something about a part of the rear sub frame coming un-glued? Maybe dreamed that?

Any way, hello everybody. I still regret selling my last VX and hope to be back in one within the next few months, I had some great times in my turbo and the SC. The only problem is that I have decent money to spend and the VX is up against some stiff competition............

rear calipers are still available because they also fit the elise models

the rear subframe shims can suffer from corrosion, so a strip down to add some Duralac is a very good idea. If there is visible corrosion down the joint then it will probably look worse when the shims are removed (to add the Duralac)

Good list, I think Nev started a thread on things to check somewhere.

A good one to check is the fuel lines: http://www.vx220.org...leak/?p=1063187
