Have brought a lightly modified VX220 (just had new Larini exhaust, power coated wheels, upgraded head unit & speakers, plasti-dipped windscreen surround & V) and am looking for insurance - I will be trying Adrian Flux, Sky Insurance, Performance Direct, Classic Line, Henderson Taylor, A-Plan and Footman James - anyone else I should try?

Many thanks!

Don't believe the mainstream insurers will accept the exhaust and cold air intake kit (forgot to mention this one in my OP)

On the basis those do not increase engine performance, it should not be a problem.

You cannot replace the original exhaust with a like for like replacement as they do not exist new.

The cold air feed , there was a CAI pipe attached to the air box , partly to shield from water ingress , now if that is a CAI pipe then its a standard feature.

How old are you, what have been the quotes supplied so far? your mods are very light.

Should be around £300 fully comprehensive

Hi Piers

have a chat with classicline or henderson taylor the ones you have are silly money. They are very light mods and they have never caused me any high quotes.

I used to be with Admiral on a multicar policy, and they had no problems with a remap, exhaust and different wheels on the VX. Currently with Henderson Taylor with the same mods, but on an agreed value policy.

Settled on Reis insurance - £416 with zero no-claims bonus, mods declared, £1,000 glass cover, and 6 track days cover (don't think I'll use them, but worth having), I'm happy with this.

Best quote I got was £360 but without track day cover.

Thanks to all for all your help!

Better book yourself on the vx220 national meet in 2019 then...

Owning a vx and never tracking it is a waste

Would love to do that, but I've never driven a RWD vehicle, let alone a proper car that's rear engined RWD, so I'm quite nervous about tracking it before getting more experience!  I'd just end up driving 5mph around the track while you guys lap me!

Best place to learn on track, worth popping along to chat, meet others, new ideas etc.

Always welcome
