Sorry, but how do I wash my car? I've never had a car with a soft top and mashoov upwards facing vents - is it OK for soapy water to go through the vents/go on the soft top? Or do I have to be careful and keep away from those? Do I need to cover them? What's the right way? Any other tips? Many thanks!

No issues with the soft top, and I wouldn't worry too much about the vents either. Just avoid pouring sh1tloads of water over them unnecessarily..
And you will get water on the sills (minimum) in the cabin (yes, with the windows up..), no matter how careful you are. Welcome to VX ownership!

Ive always done it the old fashion way 2 buckets of water 1 soapy 1 clean lol

Lots of people have their own ways of doing things but for me, I wash my cars in an offbeat way.
I snowfoam the car but try to avoid the soft top and vents as much as I can.
Rinse and foam a second time but then use clean microfibre towels dowsed in the foam using the 4fold technique to go over the car.
I use no buckets at all. Ever. Also I don't use a pressure washer.
The car is rinsed again and any stubborn areas sorted with tar remover etc. I use a towel rung out in foam on the roof and vents etc so little water saturates the roof or drops onto the engine and electrics.
Wheels are done using brushes and a well used towel to agitate the cleaner.
Then it's all dried and sealed every time it's washed (which isn't very often for the vx) but I do it this way for all the cars I've had for a long time because I don't want to be DA polishing them after every wash!

Since I seldom use the thing, I always clean it panel by panel using demon shine... yes the experts will tell you that you are bound to create swirls and whatever, but it's a 15 year old car! Just find this the easiest way. I live in a very, very, very hard water area, so if I go near it with water, it just looks terrible.

I'm an expert in this matter, hosepipe and sponge, shouldn't take more than 5 minutes once or twice a year. Then spend the rest of the time you've saved driving it!

Except it's not. That's where you're likely to get your paintwork scratched for a number of different reasons.

Sadly, those days have passed, she doesn't clean my cars any more.
