Selling the shed and had someone want to view it and take on test drive. I have the car sorn'd at present with no insurance cover.
The guy says he has trade plates, is there away to check they are legit? They only cover tax, so company motor insurance and public liability need to be checked as well?
TIA 😀

I have trade plates, I also carry my certificate of insurance in my bag in case anyone wishes to see it. As you say, plates only cover tax.
I'm not sure if there's a way you can check the plates other than typing the number into the MID check.
If he doesn't buy the car, just note down the trade plate number just in case the car was seen out on the road.
This would be your only defense against a fine from DVLA as you have the car sorned.

To be honest if the 5-0 see trade plates they won't bother you.

Should be ok although technically it needs an MOT.

I used trade plates on the VX last year to take it to a garage to get some work done. The garage warned me specifically that I must fix the plates properly to the number plates of the car. No sticking the plates on the dash and suchlike or I would get pulled by plod who have become keen on such things. This may be a local problem though and vary from force to force.
