Will be taking off the rear clam for the first time in the next few weeks (to change cylinder head) so been looking at the guides.

What is the reason for removal of the rear lights? As long as the during is removed, why do the lights need to be taken off?

Easier to lift it is the only reason I found to remove them. It's upto you, doesn't take much time to remove them anyway. Then they can be stored somewhere safe.

I normally leave them in the clam, but the light cutout is a really nice lifting handle
