My NA seems to have fused the 2 parts of the filter housing together, whilst I am trying to separate them, does anybody have spare ones, or know anywhere that sells them?

 

Yes I have the correct tool and tried force (a lot of it) it seems to have been bodged at a previous service...

I had this with mine. If you have the ring spanner tool with the teeth its a great help. I put this on and then put the cap hex head part in a vice. It was then a case of tapping the spanner with a hammer until either the spanner died or the ring came undone. I was unlucky once but lucky the second time!

When you refit the torques are something like 120nm for the ring and 25 for the cap. Check those but its around there.

I can vouch for the torques though getting to 120nm while the engine is in the car is a pig especially if supercharged. anything 80-100 will suffice.

If you're anywhere near Nantwich I have the proper tool for this.

As FLD says, hex on the cap in the vice and just keep hitting the ring spanner handle with a hammer, provided the internal teeth in the spanner are properly seated it should unscrew eventually.  Correct torque is as stated above, 120 Nm for the ring and 25Nm for the cap but graphite gaskets will normally seal at less.  I have replacement seals in Graphite on Stainless mesh and also O rings for the cap from stock if you need them.

place the 32mm hex lid in a vice, use some massive plumbers pliers and they come apart

 

The reason for overtightening will be the O ring needs replacing in the lid, they leak with old age

Whare are the part numnber of the official tools to work on the oil filter housing? I recon I need to get tooled up

ChippyFA on this forum used to do a laser cut ring spanner for the adaptor ring which was much cheaper than the official spanner, might still have some available.  A long extension to fit the hole in the spanner handle, half inch square from memory but check with Chippy, and a socket for the cap off eBay and you are there.

I'd also recommend modifying the chippy tool with a welded plate over the top and a sacrificial socket. That way you can apply torque at the center of the oil housing
