Hi,

What is the best code reader to purchase, I have a 03 VX220 n/a with a management light fault. Currently looking at OBD2 reader, are these any good or what recommendations are out there?

You will get away with any OBD2 reader for usual faults. For more advanced stuff get an Opcom interface on eBay!

Most simple device is the U480 obd reader.

Stand alone, has 2 buttons and no battery. Perfect. Costs about a tenner.

I bought this one. Works fine for reading codes, clearing them and also reading other EM parameters.

I have heard stories of some cheapy-cheapy ones frying ECUs

Any cheap blue tooth OBD reader and Torque app is ideal for the occasional user. Dirt cheap and clears reads/clears fault.

Most manufacturers after 2010ish got wise to this and started making harder to clear fault codes with additional protocol. They are a great little device tho and can monitor most parameters as well

Or you could buy a scangauge which gives various data whilst driving and has a scan and code clearing option
