Havig recently done a four pot brake upgrade on my NA, I fitted the Carbon Lorraine pads that came with the kit.

Las week had to take it all off so a fellow VXer could take the measurements and replicate it, only to discover the pads were heavily pitted.

They have only done around 400 miles and most of them quite gentle, no track work etc and they have worked very well.

Is this normal on these pads, they are RC5+

Car is normally stored in the garage with handbrake off so not sure what is going on. as always with .org. any advice is welcome.

A number of folks have had issues with these pads. Usually in manifests with the pad material falling off the backing. There is also some edge crumbling seen. CL validate this by saying they are track only pads which would have more frequent inspection and be consumed more quickly. I have only seen one set replaced by CL.

I believe the issue is a high iron content in the pad formulation which rusts and pops the material from the backing or causes breakdown of the material. Age and storage may be the issue. I had these pads and found the braking was excellent but ultimately I swapped them out as this niggled at my head.

That's pretty much exactly as mine look Ormes. I have wet/dry papered them and will refit for the time being. they were working at the point of taking them off. Am surprised they are like that if I'm honest. Thanks for the information all

Gave them a decent clean up and re fitted. After a couple of braking bedding in events they seem none the worse for wear so I will stick with them for this season.
