Clam is off, just started to fit the Tullett exhaust and i have a question for you guys!

What modification have you done to the heat protection of the backbox ?

I’m here :

1E6220DF-DB7C-4FA9-A7E0-23975A2C5169.jpe

But when i wanted to make the final fit, I saw that the exhaust is « blocked » by the heat protection... I have to made it wider but i don’t know with what...

You could extend the hole on the left side for the ubend, then wrap it.
nimbus2.jpg

Or extend the whole construction including the ubend using nimbus.
nimbus1.jpg
The same on the other side.

As for the manifold, either try to put the oem heatshield back. (may need some hammer pursuasion)
Or add an additional nimbus layer against the clamside, as the oem stuff starts to get a bit fragile after 20 years.
nimbus3.jpg

It is also strongly advised to heatsleeve the clutch hoses where they meet the exhaust pipe.

Many have suffered from melting them (mostly SC though)

Thank you Smiley!

Ubend is already wrapped. I saw some protection for the gearbox hoses and planed to buy.

Nimbus protection is exactly what i ap searching for... i will try to found it in France to avoid extra shipping costs !

Thank you once again for your help ;)

Not yet... obdtuner is planed but wondering on SC conversion for next year...

2.4 manifold has been fitted now because it is more easy with the rear clam out, 65 TB is a 5 minutes mod so if I stay N/A it will comes when obdtuner will be at home.

Some news !

As I wanted since the day I bought the speedster conversion has begin...

Most of the job is done, here is the actual pic :

43CE5EC8-8D8F-4321-983D-F55A42CBEDAD.jpe

Car was 837kg with 15l of fuel before... saved 10kg since I started the conversion so I have to work hard (or spend a lot of money) to reach 850kg...

Here is a little recap of the parts fitted :

Stage 2 sc conversion
Obdtuner
Dual pass mod
Wiring loom by Batman
Aeorquip fuel lines
Plastic cam cover
DENSO ITV22 sparks plugs
New OEM header tank

The big rusted bolt on the right bottom side of your engine is the older style chain tensioner.

That one had a flaw, that the oil path could clog up, and was replaced with a new style one.
Recognisable by a little bulge on it.

With the old style tensioner being there, it makes me think you did not have a chain swap done. (GM advises 10 years or 100k miles)

Keep in mind that after a small 20 years, the plastic guiders are known to get brittle and fail, regardless of how few miles it did.

If the guide fails, the chain can swap a notch on the cam shafts resulting in potential engine damage.

Another fun one is the ecu location.
The left side of the gutter perfectly guides rainwater into your ecu location.
I have build a little roof on top of mine for this. You may want to consider the same.

Hey Smiley, which bolt are you talking about?

Cheers

Hey Smiley.
Just checked. Flat head bolt on mine.
But when I've had the cam covers off, she has coloured links which I was under the impression were service only?

Thoughts?

Hi,

Protection for the ECU is in mind.

For the tensioner (and chains) you’re right it is not done anymore :( it is the next step (and control if I have the improved oil nozzle... hope it the right word in English)

Not sure if the improved tensioner is part of the chain kit by default.

Been to long ago since i did mine.

edit; sort of depends what you bought.

Full kit:
https://www.courtena...Chain-Kit-Z22SE

Chain kit without tensioner:
https://www.courtena...-Chain-12576647

Advised gasket while cover is off:
https://www.courtena...mp-Gasket-Z22SE

I also get ebay specials when i google for it, showing old format tensioners.
Not sure of they just use old pictures, or if they still sell the old version?
