Hi everyone,

 

Unfortunately after only a couple of weeks of ownership someone has reversed into my car at the work car park. 

 

I will need a new front lower clam at least. 

 

Does anyone know the best place to source this part? Lotus hard tops list a whole front clam but I don't need this. Anyone recognise this seller/part from eBay:

Has anyone had to go through a similar process with insurance and know the best way to sort it all out? (ie, I have heard stories of people handing over cars and them taking forever to come back and want to avoid this).

That'd repair easily enough if you don't want to swap clam sections. I believe its mvs racing who make the sections but supply might be broken at the moment. I'd heard that the proprietor had sadly died. I hope that's wrong but its what I heard

I am in NO WAY an expert on stuff like this but I would have thought this might be repairable in the hands of someone who knows what they are doing. Also, your headlight looks okay.

 

My car must have had something like this happen to it as there has been a repair in almost exactly the same place. There isn't anything in its history, and it is only on close inspection behind the headlight that something looks to have been done. Externally the colour matches and nothing can be seen on the bodywork.

 

I also know of someone who hit a pheasant, and whilst it wasn't as bad as your bump, it has been repaired invisibly.

 

I really hope you get it sorted quickly and though you'll be feeling p****d off right now, I'm hopeful you get sorted quickly.

just claim on their insurance a new front clam from lotus hardtops and paint. that will never repair back to perfect , it is just not worth the hassle. keep the old clam and sell it on here.

Yes pretty miffed. I have only owned the car 11 days! 

 

I have engaged some fibreglass bodywork companies to see if the experts think it can be repaired or not and get a quote.

thats quite an easy repair with the original sections, it's not worth replacing the entire bumper section with an aftermarket piece. However you could buy a section of an old clam and bond it in if you wanted a quick repair.

 

Otherwise it's a cat N write off due to no OEM clams being available, unless you pursuade the insurance company to use an aftermarket front clam. Lotus hardtops / Johnnyboy on here sells them.

I would only accept a repair if it was someone like http://www.specialis...ntwork.com/    , and would not accept any scenario that would devalue the car
