To be honest I enjoyed doing the 'tweaks' more than driving it, it's not been on a track for 13 years

A BIG decision to sell up given the huge amount of time and investment you have put into it!

Once you stop driving these cars I can understand how the love can quickly disappear.

For me, the VX220 is the automotive equivalent of bipolar disorder (no offence intended for anyone afflicted!), massive highs can be experienced while driving, then you have an issue with the car, or just don't get chance to drive it and start to really hate the thing.

I decided that half what it owes me is the figure = £23.5k

the vx220 is the type of car which is hard to beat or replace.

Fair few quid on that, very nice.

£315 per month, every month, for 12.5 years

it's a tough decision, my labour must be many thousands of hours.

I enjoyed building it and now it's finished, my ultimate vx220, probably the ultimate normally aspirated vx220

Not long since I read your project thread Vocky. Couldn’t believe your constant insistence on perfection. That car must be very hard to fault, if not impossible. Probably unrepeatable too, due to Unobtanium!

Love it! 😊

I'm sure some will say that is expensive for "an NA VX220", but considering the other options for the same:

  • An average - decent condition VXR220
  • An NA S2 Exige (40-50k miles)
  • A Lotus Europa S

So I think that's right for the right person (and I'm sure you want it to go to the right person..).

I have seen hundreds of vx220's which makes me realise just how few cars are left in this condition. Perhaps only a few dozen or so and even less with so many desirable parts. I have been replacing parts with new OEM parts as often as they are available.

It's the small details which make a car and most people who have expressed an interest have seen the car in person.

If someone wants to own a vx220 in this condition it is going to take them a very long time to find another, this is a true 'one off' vx220
