Mine is really badly scratched and it has a funny rubbery coating on it so seems best way is to replace it if I can find one.

leather covers are a good option

 

Would think its going to be hard to find a mint one but could be lucky

Rubber coating is OEM.  I believe there's a rattle can in halfords if you want to refurb.  Let us know if you do, it's been on my 'to do' list too.

Ah ok this sounds interesting will have a look, could be a slow time refurb to restore it back using this can from Halfords, standby for update.......

Is the lower shroud easy to remove?

Yeah, that's the one I've seen.  Might be worth a try on a piece of card first to check the match.
