Right, now I'm sure this shouldn't be as complicated as it appears to be but how do I remove the silver plastic surround for the VDO Dayton stereo without breaking it? Once I've got this off removing the stereo will be easy but with it on I cann't get to the points needed for the stereo removal tool. On previous stereos I've changed this can be simply pulled off if wiggled about a bit, but on this one, I've managed to get the top half free but the bottom is securely fixed!! Any ideas would be appreciated. RichH

I have just looked at my VDO I took out. It looks like the cage prevents you from removing the front silver surrond as it pushes against the plastic tags around the edge. You shouldnt need to take the silver surround off just put the prongs of the removal tool in the four corners and it should pull out. I used a wire coat hanged cut into two prongs. It did take a few minutes to get out.
