When I tighten the gear knob up on my NA, it ends up in the wrong orientation with the writing off set. Should there be an oring or spacer that sits on the shaft to stop this or is there another way around it... Don’t really want to resort to super glue on the threads!!

Doesn’t affect the car - just annoys me!!

Best thing to do is to buy an eraser from Smiths or something, cut it to a round shape so you have a thin round disc type shape, put it on top of the gear stick and screw the knob down. It will then space it so it lines up, start off with it about 1cm thick and trim accordingly. As it is a soft rubber material it wont rattle, no modding of thread required! Thats what I do with most screw on aftermarket gear knobs.
