Hey all Im finding it difficult to fit some 15mm spacers I got.

 

The lips on the hubs extend 15mm from the face of the disc, but the spacers only have enough room for approx 12mm of lip before they foul. So it seems like they are on but the spacer isnt flush against the disc face.

 

Anyone else found this problem? Maybe 15mm spacers are just no good?

Are these just a big washer or do these have bolt holes that offset the wheel bolts from the hub to the wheel? What wheels are you trying to fit?

Hehe. I did some spacers a few years ago. I made them 16.5mm thick. I think from 0 to 10mm is ok hur from 10 to 16.5 is hard if you want any steering of the wheels. Above 16.5 is ok.

I have to check my spacer size, but you can fit simple "plate spacers" up to a certain size that partially cover the centre hub, so your wheel still has some lip to centre on. Or you make them thick enough to include their own stepped centre hub section.

 

15mm is probably right in the middle where there's not enough space to use a stepped centre hub, so you can only use a plate type spacer and centre the wheels on the bolts...

I was hoping to fit some ET38 wheels (7.5") which would obviously need a wee space. 10mm would probably do it but I had 15s already.

 

I have some universal 9mm spacers but they are such a pain as they flop all over the place and are multi hole etc.

 

Any recommendations for some say 7-8mm spacers that would sit nice on the hub and line up etc? I like to stick a little spray glue on the back to stop them spinning when fitting wheels.

I had the same problem with my 15 mm spacers....
I just made a chamfer on the hub.

I bought mine from Direnza and they fitted (15mm per side). I just used so copper grease and they fitted, tight fit but worked fairly easy, just remember to use longer bolts

I used 15mm each side on the front as I have rear turbo wheels on the front, then used a 6mm set on the rear

Note these fit but don't use the bolts as they are the wrong pitch 1.25 fine the VX needs m12 x 1.5 (thicker)

I cant really see how 15s would fit, though I do have ElisePart discs and I wonder if they are thinner than std ones and allow the hub to "poke out more"

And there are 2 types of hubs....
Older ones were with a thicker centering ring. As it's thicker, the chamfer can also be bigger .
My 15 mm spacer is not a simple plate
It also has a centering ring to it.
The chamfer size on the hub is very important because this space is used by the spacer for the "junction" of its own centering ring.

took a grinder to the hub lips - 15mms are on now

 

got a set of astra 16s so they are sitting pretty, along with some turbo rears
