Just making up a new engine loom, and wanted opinions on the best finish and protection.

What are the pros and cons between heat shrink and expandable braided sleeving?

Or can you use both - the sleeving on top of the heat shrink...

I wouldn't cock about trying to heatshrink an entire loom.

 

Use the braided (or expanding) sleeving of differing sizes for the main parts of the loom and heatshrink a couple of inches of the cables where they come out of the loom heading off to plugs to tidy up the end of the sleeving, or use fabric loom wrapping tape on these sections.
