I think I know the answer, sadly, but is the red plastic card the only way of knowing the 16 digit alarm code? I have one working fob, but would like to have a second. I know you can program a fob using a working one, but the new fob must be coded to the car’s alarm module first.

We didn’t get the red card with our car, so I’m hoping there is another way to get the 16 digit code for this.

without the red card it's not possible for an owner to program a replacement key, your best bet would be to use a company like Abacus Alarms

Yes, I’d seen them. Not really wanting to pay that sort of money. Oh, well. 😧

Another way is to buy a 2nd hand alarm main unit that has 2 key fobs...

Thanks to all. There’s some bollocks on that old forum thread about keys, isn’t there? Even I have managed to pair £5 eBay keys to the ECU, using OpCom. The alarm fob is a bigger problem though, which is outlined well there. Think I’m just going to make do with the one - we never use it anyway. 😊
