So i could add another raffle prize... I dont speak much on here mainly because i use it more for information and my VX220 is also for sale so I probably wont get the chance to meet many people...

That being said I read the story about a Luke on facebook and having gone through similar experience in Celica club UK and losing close friends I want to help.

I can offer a prize for the raffle

A tour round the McLaren technology centre and possibly McLaren Production centre (subject to approval)

If you want to raise lots of money, I genuinely think auctioning some of the big ticket items will raise more money than raffling them off.

Maybe, but people have already committed to the raffle now, so a little difficult to go back on.

People won't bid over the cost of the actual prizes if they purchase cheaper elsewhere either. This way people are only £20 (or more if they have multiple tickets) out of pocket and we will potentially yield more than the prize costs. Plus it will be an awesome treat for someone for only £20!

Is the aim to give people a nice treat for £20, or to raise money for a vx community member in need?

Perhaps it's a bit of both?

I absolutely agree that an auction would raise more money, however people have been so generous over on the just giving page that in some ways this raffle is in recognition of this.

If we auction the bigger prizes then that potentially puts them outside the scope of some people, it becomes more a game of the have's vs the have not's.

In truth I hadn't banked on receiving so many prize offers, we started with one good prize and the raffle was in some ways in response to that. At this point there's some very good prizes in the pot

lets hold them in a raffle, the McLaren day isn't yet confirmed so that could be auctioned later - perhaps at the national ??

Chris6316 and I set up the Just giving page which has done extremely well ( we thought £500) the Yorkshire VX owners have supported us well and pushed this forward to this point, what we need now is the support of everyone - I note that not everyone in this conversation has bought a ticket.

A bit of both! If it can help someone else out the same time then why not?

I see where you're coming from but bringing more of the overall community together rather than just watching a couple of individuals bidding for top spot sits better with me. Community spirit! :D

This is in honour and remembrance of a friend and fellow community member, not a trolley dash for the most cash :)
