Hi everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself as a first time VX220 owner.  I don't pick it up until next weekend but done the test drive and sorted the deal today.  Red, 2.2, 38k, KY02 LLE. Will get a photo on here, maybe tomorrow got to dash tonight.

Needs a little costmetic touch here and there but hope nothing too serious.  Worst bit is a little crack at the bottom of the driver's B-pillar where it meets the sill.

I had been looking at Elises (is that a dirty word here?) and admit I had kind of forgotten about the VX220.  But having looked into them and driven one I preferred it.  Gearbox doesn't have the same amount of guess work to find the right gear, plus the brake servo doesn't mean every stamp of the brake is straining sinews and hoping something happens.  Along with not having to worry about the K-series engine and the inevitable head gasket.

Anyway, if anyone is in the Chester/Cheshire area, knows of good garages that can take care of it feel free to let me know.

I'll be keeping my eyes open on the road, but can't remember when I last saw one out in the wild in this neck of the woods.

Stuart

Added a couple of pics from the garage.  Hopefully add some of my own when I get it home next weekend.  That's if can ever figure out how to get iPhone photos down to a reasonable size.  Why are they always so big?!

Anyone on here know this car?

Picked it up on Saturday and had a good 93 mile drive home for the first drive.  Through towns and traffic, twisty A-roads over the Peak District then some motorways.  Surprisingly comfortable and exhaust not too intrusive.  Car seems pretty stock, other than the alloys changed (with 16s front, 17s rear).  Believe that was the set up on the Elise and some VXs.

Likely head out to north Wales as some lovely roads there (Evo triangle may be calling to me). Hope you enjoyed yours in summer, Bucko. Not sure if winter is the time to enjoy a soft top, though did have a drive on Sunday with the roof off.  It's my first ever convertible.

Still learning the "quirks" (as Doug DeMuro off youtube would say).  Like the fuel gauge that seems unsure just how much petrol there is, and the asthmatic hamster that is trying to blow warm air. Oh, and blind spots that could hide the Titanic.  Or maybe I just need to find the sweet spot with the mirrors.

Certainly is nice to drive a manual again (got an '03 XKR, a rather different beast to the VX).  Nice to have a gear change that makes a satisfying "clunk" as the stick is moved.

Thanks for the trimming tip earlier, Jon, driver's bolster worn (as they all seem to be), plus seen some nice trim work done on dashes and such. Plenty for me to think on.

For now the weekend can't come fast enough and drive it again!  Maybe see some of you out and about!

Stuart

A big plus one from me for Ross's work, he redid the seats and door cards on mine and they are stunning.
