Back in about 2013 I bought an Europa Blue/biscuit NA, loved every minute of the car and for some reason sold it to a guy in Sweden (maybe?!). Well, as I get older I realise there isn't time to sit back and live in regret so I have got hold of another; this time richyroff's old Black Supercharged VX.

I'm really happy as a rule. The thing is quick (to be expected), but there are a few little bits I want to change.

1. Carpets. I've ordered a set from Fred. I'm hoping this sorts the issue at no. 2.

2. Rattles. This thing rattles a lot worse than I remember #1 doing. There is also a resonance at about 2000 rpm which I need to identify, a proper buzzing.

3. Alloys. I have a nice set of alloys which were fitted by the last owner (Bola B10) but the style isn't for me; TDs it is.

4. Door cards. Richy had the interior redone which has held up well, especially the seats. He also covered the dash, centre console and sill covers which have all lasted really well. The door cards seem to have suffered with whatever glue was used coming through at the bottom corners - I wonder if the cards have got wet at any point? I'll try cleaning them up.

5. There is a big ass sub in the footwell, where the footrest used to be. It needs to go.

6. I will probably fit a DAB head unit, just for when I'm not furiously pedalling it.

7. The big one. The previous owner has fitted sill extensions, long tail diffuser and splitter. Not sure if I like them.

8. An even bigger one. It has turbo ears fitted, but they are 'glued down' or sealed with tigerseal or sikaflex. Should I be concerned? Shall I just leave it?

9. It needs a geo. I know that the last alloys, pre-Bola, were 16/17 TDs and it is now on 17s all round, fronts on spacers, etc etc. I'm sure from driving it that it hasn't been reset for the change - over 60MPH it is skittish as hell, and the steering shakes. The last VX, for comparison, was solid.

Apart from those issues which can be dealt with in time, I'm over the moon to be back in a VX. This time it's for life (maybe).

Are you sure that's not just the supercharger whine?  :P  :P  :P

I had something similar to this and it was a poorly aligned exhaust.  Check that the u-bend triangular flange isn't touching the sub-frame.  I had to adjust the back-box hangers and u-bend to get it to fit properly and not foul on anything.

PITA job!

Oh no, that is instantly identifiable!

Welcome back, your list isn't anything major by the looks.

I had an exhaust heat shield cause similar noises, get someone to rev it while you listen.

No, I'm not too fazed by it. I bought the car on the rep of the old owner. It's great to be back!

Hey Myles, welcome back - or welcome black 😎

I recall a meet, or maybe 2, with you back in 13/14 with your biscuit car - good you are back with the right colour car this time lol 😂 Hope to god it’s not cloth seats 🤪

Get yourself along to the Silverstone Classic 3 day thing in August (on here and Facebook) absolute blast camping with Vx peeps last year, and no lotus owning knobs arranging dinners/nationals/meets/pretending to be Vx owners 😘😘

It's definitely the right colour if you like washing the car, which I do! The seats are a leather type material (you tell me!) with alcantara panels.
I'll try to get to meets but I'll be in the deep South West for good soon so travelling could be fun or excruciating!

Hi Myles. Wellcome. You remebred correct. You sold your old car to Sweden, and I still own it.

You can have the DAB head unit (if I can find it). I removed it as it does not work in Sweden.

Aah how clever of me! I'm so glad you still have it, it took long enough to get back I bet! I'll have to get Google Translate working to see what you've done.

As for the head unit, yes please!!! Let's take it to PM.

fcuking Sikaflex can suck my fat one. The last owner (yeah, him with all the sikaflex) fixed a set of skirt attachments with bolts into the underside of the sills. Worse than that, he guaranteed they'll never come off by applying more fcuking Sikaflex between the two.

I'm scared to rip them off now the bolts are out! Bellend!

Fishing twine is probably best for the sills, cheers. I was using a Stanley blade on the remains of the canards that were also stuck on with sikaflex. I need a toffee wheel I reckon.

So frustrating.

Well, I'm sticking with the sill extensions and the splitter. They've grown on me just enough to not want to go through the heartache of getting them off!

The sikaflex holding the canards on is flaking off slowly using a finger in a rubber glove. I'll have arthritis by the end of it though.
