OK, I guess they're like hen's teeth then - Anyone know what the Vauxhall Part Number is ? - perhaps I can get a new one.

What does it look like? Type 'Vectra 2.2 Engine Cover' into ebay and quite a few options pop up?

I had one of those on my old NA, did a great job of keeping water off the main body but the engine got pretty hot under there, that I took it off when driving. Think I threw it away in the end.

Umm- Thanks for the feedback about heat retention, there seems to be conflicting comments regarding this.

Chris, what's your experience of the cover, did it effect the engine temp at all?

I didn't do anything scientific by any means, the temps seemed a bit up when using it. But in all honesty, there are two vents above the engine to I presume, vent heat. If you cover the engine right below those vents there will be an effect. Your engine is unlikely to explode or anything but I really couldnt see the point of it and binned it off.

I guess it beggars the question, what do you want one for?

I'd like to keep the water out of the engine bay and away from the wiring, specifically the ECU

I presume that the car was designed this way expecting water to come in through the vent though? Not sure I remember reading any problems of water causing ECU problems? Mine is sat outside all year round and runs fine.

Coil pack went In the recent storm. While car was abandoned outside. Bin bag blew off doh

Drying it out wondering if it still works.

I used to also get corrosion in the crank sensor.

I'm sure that keeping water off the top of the engine along with all the electrical gubbins thats sits nearby must be a benefit, the only downside could be a negative impact on cooling, but there doesn't seem to be any clear conclusion whether this is the case, or not.

Driving around never had any issues even in downpours.

Used to use a spare bit of nimbus over the engine when standing outside. But a bin bag works just as well......unless Ciara turns up.

I have an engine cover on mine and wouldn't be without it if i'm honest. Had an issue with my coil pack on my old VX after a heavy downpour so for the sake of about £30 it was well worth it.

Not had any issues at all with engine heat.

Look out, storm Dennis is coming, anyone without an engine cover had better find some old bin bags and a handful of bricks 😊😊
