It could all be moot point if Trump corks it from Covid. Effectively we would be in a position where China have killed the president of the USA. I don't think that would end very well.

This is an interesting point. My question would be 'is this real or white house spin'? If Trump fakes having Covid he could use it as a tactic to cancel, delay or influence the election. This tactic wouldn't surprise me.

Saying china killed trump is a bit far fetched unless you thing Covid is engineered. Whilst it started in China you'd have to prove intent and there's already been theory that it was US derived and released in China for various political gain - making America great again being one touted reason. Its one hell of a rabbit hole to go down and you're touching on subjects like biological warfare.
I think it's spin ending with either: I've beaten cv19, look how strong I am( and biden is weak) or false positive declared after a week or so to let the furore of the debate die down, right wing , proud boys etc

I've heard a few people say Trump is making up the Covid thing but he would never do this as it makes him look weak. A Leader should never fall ill. Look at the spin around when Boris went into hossie it was for "routine checks" There is no way they would be going to hospital unless it was absolutely necessary as it makes them look weak (or at least they might think it makes them look weak) After all Trump has sais about the virus there's no way he would own up to having it unless he had to as his whole thing has been to downplay it. The second he goes into hospital you know it's gravely serious.

I'm no conspiracy nut but its a bit of a coincidence that Wuhan happens to have an institute of Virology and the China Centre for Virus Culture Collection the former having been warning about the dangers of a pandemic for a while.

What I also find really annoying is China just lie about everything to do with the virus. They still claim to have only ever had 84000 infections but yet this thing has carried it's way all over the world into the bodies of several world leaders but doesn't spread amongst a load of cheek by jowl living folk in China? They must have lost hundreds of thousands of people to this thing and they will know exactly where it came from and when.

This is the thing though. The west has a greater transparency/honesty/reporting (not sure what the word I'm looking for) ability than some of the other (mostly eastern, less developed) countries where the virus is prevalent. I can't understand how many of the reported numbers can be believed.

Interesting points.  I'd have thought having it makes him 'one of the people' and relatable and these are things he really needs to work on!

Any town with a decent university will have an equivalent of a virology centre and virus culture collection and the academics there will be doom prophets.  If you look hard enough you'll always find these things that are far too coincidental.  I know of a level 5 biohazard lab that has far worse things stashed away and it's not porton down.

Well the Donald has gone into hospital pretty quick. Similar spin to when Boris was admitted. He's a completely hateful baboon of a man but hope he pulls through. If nothing else could it inject him with a bit of humility?

So little is really known about the virus. We don't know for certain that it can't be eradicated by simply burning Donald Trump in a giant wicker cock and balls.

I know for a fact that the University of Cambridge sent over specialists who work just on the security and "cleaniness" within labs, and to identify (potential) pitfalls, to Wuhan as early as January this year at the early stages of the virus in that city.

Says it all, one day the truth will come out. Bats, cats etc in a street side market I dont think so.

...i think the truth was out there a long time ago, the manipulation techniques of 'man playing god' was a bomb just waiting to go off, exactly how and who connected the detonator is kind of a redundant question.

Remembering that this cross species viral jump has been productive and perfected by the viruses for millions of years, our own manipulation of cellular genetics, reading and rewriting it, is relatively in it's infancy.

Anyway, it can't be all that bad, there are pro's and con's to everything i suppose...since mandatory mask wearing i've not had to either trim my beard or clean my teeth.. :D ..bonus

Can't seem to edit that post but Jordan has gone to sh*t, having had six months of single figure infections every day.

The graph in here shows what's happened in the last 4 weeks

https://corona.moh.gov.jo/en

So total 60 hour curfews at weekends are the norm again.

Sooo, lockdown 2.0 looms close.  I know there are mixed opinions here but I really hope we get a handle on this beast soon.

Can't see how it'll be anything other than another temporary fix to get the NHS through to February at huge expense to the economy, with the exception of Amazon. Immediately undone by the fcukwit behaviour of a significant number of the general public (yeah those people demanding to be treated like adults and immediately behaving like dicks when shown a modicum of self-responsibility) on easing of the restrictions.

Fully expect more woe is me coverage of students sulking about their social lives being spoilt and one-day-a-year Christians whining on about how they're Christmas' will ruined if Great Aunt Agatha and second cousin 8 times removed Derek can't come to dinner on that one day of the year.

Fear ye not fellow compatriots. Lord Nigel of Farage, fresh from securing a second term for Trump, cometh to the rescue on his mighty white steed. Wants to rebrand the Brexit Party and focus on fighting the lockdown. Pray tell, how will you do that? Will your legion of brave MP's vote against it on Wednesday? Hmmm, maybe you could muster your MEP's to get the EU to intervene. Oh, maybe not. Maybe you could have another lame march the length of the country and just claim you ended it on the 2nd December and it's therefore yet another victory.

Regrettably 'this beast' is here to stay imo and we just need to learn to live with it without having a lock down every 3 months.

I don't disagree Chris but we, as a population, have proved spectacularly incapable of following even the most basic distancing principles and self-regulating our behaviour with any consistency - see the 700 twat rave in Yate at the weekend.

So called herd immunity, whether gained naturally via recovery or via vaccine is clearly still the only way out of the whole thing. However, those studies that seem to show that naturally acquired antibodies after recovery don't hang around for too long are a bit worrying. Hopefully, if that is the case it's not as bad as it might be and the T-cells(?) or whatever the other type of bodily defence system still has the relevant memory to nix a new infection, if necessary. Given a vaccination program, once there's a viable vaccine, is going to take at least a year to manufacture in the necessary quantities and roll out to a significant proportion of the population - anti-vaxxers and Bill Gates microchip haters aside - we're going to have to live with it. And hope that it doesn't mutate enough to require new vaccines every year or two.
