Hi all,

 

Currently not a VX220 owner, but an Elise or VX has always been an itch I'd like to scratch.

 

Can I ask, of you guys who track the NA version, have you ever had a track day hatch that you can compare it to?

 

Parts costs, fun, track day capabilities, etc.

 

Currently I have an old Ep3 civic - usual mods like coilovers, LSD, final drive, remap, exhaust, intake , cage etc.

Totally different cars to be fair

I had an EP3 cracking car but no exactly a track in my opinion.
Had a DC2 and DC5 too which are bit more track focus.

Cornering, braking and handling on a NA will be much better but personally NA are slow so buy a supercharged one or turbo!
Parts are fairly cheap, tyres and brakes etc...
if you crash a VX220 the clams cost a fortune so be careful, you can’t just buy a wing and bang it on.

That’s one of the reasons I got a mx5 track car as it rwd light weight similar to the VX220 but cheaper to repair.
Was well slow down the straights so a slapped a turbo on it and push the power right up so it’s much more of a animal now.
Again rwd sports cars are in a different league to fwd hot hatches.
Any decent chassis around 1ton or lighter simply turns in and out brakes most things hence caterhams etc are the ideal track toy

I've had an EP3 but never tracked it.

The VX being rear drive is a very different proposition in terms of feel.

A 2.2 and a CTR wouldn't be miles apart on straight line pace, but the vx sits you lower, the car can be steered on the pedals and the lack of weight means it's much better on the brakes.
