Hi all,

Finally got my hands on a VX as of last week. I've wanted one since I was a kid so very chuffed. Quite a few of you will recognise this car, it's got oodles of history and is very well-travelled. However I think this is the first time it's lived in Scotland - it'll have a lifetime of Euro trips and NC500 runs ahead of it.

It has some niggles to sort - unfortunately the day after I got it, it became stuck in gear. The connections at the gearstick and gearbox ends are OK so I think the gear cables need to be replaced.

Looking forward to learning more about them as I go on - I've had several performance cars in the past but none quite so raw as this!

Once I've got some minor things sorted I'll be on the lookout for a soft top too - if we ever get the sun back!

Hi, Welcome to the forum, from a recent-new-owner myself.

That looks a cracker, if you like yours as much as I like mine, you'll be a happy chappy.

The NC 500 is on my list too, hope I can make it a reality. Well done!

Thanks Martin, congrats on the latest purchase! You'll love the NC500 when you get up here. Light summer nights make it especially enjoyable.

Thanks folks. I'm in the city but often out in the countryside when I can. Well, I will be once I can change gear again!

Welcome! I'm in the city too (I have a 2.0 SC), so if you have any queries (I know them pretty well by now having just rebuilt mine), and if you need a supercharger kit, let me know ;)

Thanks folks. Out of interest Rosssco, which garages do you use locally for the VX?

Not afraid to get stuck in myself but always good to know if there's anyone locally with prior VX/Elise experience.

I don't really use any garages locally, as the vast majority of work (incl. three engine changes) I do myself, although mine has been into AW Autotech and Bridge of Don garage for MoT's etc.

Thanks James, I saw the car on your YouTube channel - looks like it was a riot.

Thank you for keeping all your receipts too, blown away by how much history is with the car.
