I've just insured the house with Hastings - better check that includes fire!

Better check that it includes the house!

DO NOT INSURE ANYTHING WITH HASTINGS DIRECT.

I got there in the end. I got something. Which is more than I expected. As I said, while my car was burning the idiot at Hastings Direct was sat there scratching his nuts, picking his nose telling me that Hastings Direct didn’t pay out for fires. Because I hadn’t hit anything I could take a hike. And that was the only help Hastings Direct offered. At a time when I needed help, Hastings Direct couldn’t give a toss, just put down the phone, continued scratching his nuts.

Was several days later when I did manage a couple of conversations with two ladies that knew what they were talking about. They were genuinely concerned and got things organised. But the effort to get there was draining. The online forms were designed by a blabbering idiot..where I had to agree that my car was repairable or drop my claim.

And then the very same questions atheists ladies asked me were repeated on paper. I had to send in my car keys...guess they wanted to start the engine.

I blame myself for looking for cheap insurance. I didn’t know I would be dealing with such a useless set up. I hope the women that helped me jump ship to another insurance company because their talent is wasted at Hastings Direct.

My advice, have nothing to do with Hastings Direct, scratch yer balls, pick yer nose and find another insurance company.

Replacements.

Nothing yet. A few ideas but no test drives booked and signed for. I’ve always wanted an Ultima, I like the Exige but nothing this side of Christmas.

Im planning on sticking around on here, and thanks to everyone who chipped in with words of support. I owe you a beer so drop in to Casinos Drinking Den while you can.

Time for a social media campaign, have you put something on the vx220 Facebook page, not that I use it, but if so I will search it out and start sharing. Glad you got something, a warning to us all.

Brilliant, so pleased that worked out for you in the end.  Terrible way for Hastings to have behaved though, done themselves no favours, hopefully people will not forget.

So glad to see there has been a resolution. I hate dealing with insurance companies, in a previous life I dealt with the repairs side. If they could get out of paying for a single bolt they would. It's only to save the reputation of the garage that we held out for these items. Unscrupulous repairers would undercut to the detriment of the customer.

I’m not on FB but if anyone wants to share feel free. The more folks that avoid the shite I went through the better .

Glad you got some sort of resolution in the end. Do you know what the cause of the fire was?

I am not a fan of social media sites by any means but when this sort of stuff happens I am all over Twitter and the like publicly saying how they are refusing to help and being terrible about it. @ # or whatever their official site in and within an hour you will have a senior manager messaging you with apologies and resolutions - when an Asda van drove into our parked car and drove off, we had a witness who gave reg and Asda point blank said they asked their drivers and none of them were down our road that night. The same driver had to deliver to the witness a week later and took a note of the driver details and I posted on Twitter that we had details and that Asda were attempting to break the law by lying about an accident and driving off. Within an hour I had full admission of guilt, passed to their insurance company who had someone coming over to assess the damage to pay out within 2 days.

Pete, I think you need one of these. Not quite as good as a VX, but it will keep you amused.
