Anyone know if the digital dashes from Lotus can be retrofitted to the VX?

I've read they fit the Elise from 2008 onwards, but has anyone looked into the possibilty of modding on to fit earlier cars including ours?

It reads speed and RPM over CAN, so no easy solution...

Ahh, makes sense. That puts an end to that idea.

Might be a good reason to move to that TFSI Golf R engine I've been pondering

MCM had it retrofitted in an old exige.

Gives a clear vision on the rear connectors.

Yotamota'd Elise/Exiges have a CAN based ECU so it's just plug and play.

I've got a Haltech Elite ECU sat in a box in the garage that I'd really like to fit one day so the car can actually talk as fast as it can go, instead of stuttering along with KWP-2000 or whatever protocol it currently mumbles to itself.

Because those are still CAN, but Lotus used a different harness style/connector than the later cars.

This dash could be used in the older Elises and VX if you also buy their channel expansion (and optionally data-hub)  to be able to interface to discrete signals (eg. rpm, speed pusle, fuel gauge, etc.) and get them into a CAN stream:

Does all add up though...

Bye, Arno.

Whilst I do love a digital dash what's driving the desire to switch?  Are you finding the current dash inadequate?  I'm no mega racing driver (or anything vaguely close to this) so might be naïve to the motivations.

On track, with sunglasses on, all info other then speed and rpm is not readable.
I use an extra small (casio type) obd display now so i can at east read the vitals during sessions.
Would love a fancy display

Windows phablet would be my choice.

Would be able to run Torque Pro, Harry’s Timer, OBD Tuner, Navigation etc and no concerns with mileage adjustments.

I have the GARW dash and on road or track, night or day, sunglasses on or off it's perfectly visible if anything at night it's a tad too bright (it does dim when you put the lights on).

You can adjust the brightness by holding the trip reset button

The unclear part with the AIM MX2E is knowing if it is locked of still as configurable as any of their other dashes.
