I know there have been lots of previous threads on this but just trying to decide on new headlight bulbs now given the new MOT regulations from Jan 2021.  Now that using HID or LED is not possible what are the best options for headlight bulbs replacement. I am looking at two Phillips Xtreme Vision and Osram Nightbreaker Laser or is there something else others are using?

Those are about the ones to get for max MOT proof legal light output.

In H7 (high beam) there's also the Philips RacingVision GT200. (not available in H1 yet)

Biggest limiting factor on the dipped beam may be the state of the reflector though. They oxidise and lose a lot of their reflective power making the result on the road a lot dimmer.

All of these higher output bulbs are lower lifespan (burn hours) though, so do expect to swap them more often than regular ones if you drive with your lights on more often.

Bye, Arno.

Philips Xtreme or Racing Vision have always been very good upgrades on my cars.

Always had issue with very low lifetime for Osrams unfortunately. Also when they fail, they tend to explode so can be a bit messy to clean

Led bulbs are easy to change for MOT.
You can get Philips LED ultinon pro9000 or pro5000
