Hi,

What are the current options for front and rear engine mounts?

I've seen the Powerflex and Vibra-Technics, but which is the best?

It is road use and I don't want to increase the vibration.

Thanks

John

I had poly mounts and the vibration was unpleasant. Used to get right into my head at idle so I would press the gas slightly when stopped. But that was with an engine without balance shafts.

Mine also has balance shafts removed.

The reason for looking at these is that it is quite noise. I was convinced it was the side mounts, but had those changed. The noise continued so thought it must be the front or back.

I've found that the rear already has poly inserts, but it is fairly squeaky, so it could be that making the noise. They don't look in bad condition to me, how would I know if they need replacing.

If there's is not damage or cracks I would say they're fine. It might be something else touching something if you think it is related to engine lean.

Those original mounts and the (powerflex) insert look fine.

Cheers for the comments.

Think I'll order another power flex bush for the front and then lube it all up and put it back. Hopefully that will end the noise.

I had the powerflex poly insert on the lower, and have balance shafts removed, and was getting a lot of vibration, especially at idle. Removed the poly insert, which helped, then discovered the exra-annoying vibration I was getting was actually from the rear diffuser (mmg one) sitting too snug to the exhaust.
