Hi All

I have just recently bought a vx220 turbo as a non running project with no history, I was told a little story of its history by the previous owner all be it without any proof.

Supposedly owned by Vauxhall for a number of years from new, which is believable as was this exact car was driven by Jeremy Clarkson on top gear, then it was sold to a charity. The charity were going to have people they support work on restoring the car, the charity went bankrupt and the car was then sold in early 2020. Was used once in his ownership for a track day where it did only 3 laps due to wet weather and only
Being able to fit in the car wearing a helmet with the roof off.

I have a number of parts already waiting to be installed such as a fully built z20leh engine, twin scroll borgwarner efr 7670 turbo setup, link g4+ extreme ecu all with the intentions of achieving 550-600 bhp.
The main aim is straight line performance, car will be mainly used to compete in 1/2 mile rolling or standing mile events (racewars) (terminal velocity)

Based in south east, Kent area

Cheers all 👍🏽

It is the car Clarkson tested on Top Gear, one of the first built..

Apart from any arguable significance of that.. I have to ask.. if you're just after a straight-line weapon, why are starting with a VX, which is all about the twisty stuff?

You say all about the twisty stuff but it’s the lightest platform vx you can get with a z20 let running gear platform. Have a stripped out mk4 gsi at 440bhp but this is the next big step to take.
