Hello all.

any of you that's seen me asking questions already on here will know i recently got a VX.

simple history..... 

many years ago i had a lotus exige s1, so I know the form... since then my car history has had some strong highlights, I have had 5 different Audi RS4's Audi R8, lambo gallardo, Nissan gtr R35, 2 Honda NSX's, GT40 replica, several landrover dakar racers. and I build cars for fun... often from scratch

 

my VX is currently a turbo block with 2.2 crank rods and HC pistons. stage 2 cams and lots of headwork (valves springs etc)

 

I love it, except the power, i do need some more. I am not looking to match the numbers from my previous cars, but something ...... before the pandemic hit I was lent a exige 350 v6sc for a few hours, and with a friend we had a great day, and for me it was the right performance balance.

 

I have looked at VX220 packages and compared the numbers power to weight with both occupants, and more important torque to weight and the VX SC 260 is almost the same.

has anyone compared themselves? if I get some replies then I will go into more details of the plan, and the options I have come up with. and cover the rest of the build plan.

 

build starts in january, so i need to book in the engine work as im unlikely to do it myself due to two other projects in work ..... but may 

 

vx260 stock engine

vx300 forged bottom end my head

vx300 B207 my head

vx350 harrup

I would just get forged rods (if not already installed) and pistons on your current engine and you should see 300bhp supercharged which will give the v6 exige a run for it’s money.
You should be fine with a std pulley to keep temps down.
If using the 8.9 CR pistons I would try and get the CR back up to 9.5 with a thinner Head gasket or a light skim of the head.

Wiseco 8.9 CR pistons are with a 1mm head gasket.
So with a OEM HG you will be higher...
About 9.4

I think the M62 supercharger works better with higher CR. So as near to 10:1 as possible will be best.
It you drop compression it kills power so you fit a smaller pulley and add heat which kills power. Different story for a Harrop that is bigger and more efficient.

for now i think i am going to swap the engines and supercharge a standard one, and either sell or shelve the current high compression N/A on throttle bodies one, if i shelve then i would look to re build the bottom end when i can afford to, sadly the costs at the moment prohibit me. £1400 for rods and pistons is double what the were. add to that all the work and id be passing that to a specialist, and thats another £1500 or so so £3000 for an extra 40bhp is not viable for me at the moment

 

i still intend on doing the engine swap and starting the rework over christmas :)

just been deep into the engine bay, though i havent removed the clam yet. 

looked at the wiring thats been done to run the existing ITB alpha set up, looks standalone as expected, but im not sure how it ties into the exisiting loom, and how i can revert to original ECU and engine... damn complicated in there

 

looks to me like whover did it, stripped out the factory wiring to save weight

 

anyone got any knowlage on the alpha itb setups?
