I'm on my second VX220 now in the space of a year, and both have had issues with headlight and hazard switches.
I've seen a load of posts about these breaking, and people saying 'just buy one for £40 from xxxxxx' which seems a bit pricey.
I've had a load of mk3 Cavalier/Astras in the past and noticed they have the same headlight/foglight switches, both times I've replaced these switches with the foglight switch that comes in either a Cavalier, Astra or Calibra. I think the Corsa and Tigra have these also - the mk2 Tigra also has heated seat switches which also work fine
The Cav/Astra/Tigra switches feel better made than the VX ones - I opened one up and found a thin 'tongue' of plastic which operates that switch, this is the bit that breaks off.
SOME switches have the little plastic rod on the back of the button in the wrong place, but other wise the workings are the same - if you need a headlight/fog switch today just get one of the mk3 Astra/Cav fog switches even if the front button part won't swap over as it's plug and play and works.
I got about 10 and tried a load out. All you have to do is swap the top button part (making sure the little springs don't fall out and get lost).
The rear (or is it the front?) fog switch has an extra connector, but these interchange and work fine which ever switch you use.
I read Vectra air con switches work, but I've never ever seen one of these on my travels to the scrappies.
I hope this helps people as I don't think it's fair-play to pay £40 for a single switch - I got a load of these from a breakers yard for £10 (when I say load I mean about 20 )
The hazard switch is identical to ones in mk4 Astras and Suzuki Wagon/Vauxhall Agilas - the mk3 Cav one is the same internally but has a different (angled) button attachment as you can see here:
Some of these switches have less pins on the back for some reason, any switch with seven pins on the back will work:
