Sounds like one of two possibilities then - either Pete smacked up another VX, or there's some funny insurance scam going on. I imagine that if I was one of the people ripped off by him, I would be inclined to dig a little deeper in case he's pulling a fast one. Ahem.

About six foot deep sounds about right.

Whoops thinking out loud again.

But that was the ex-B4D VX, which was an NA!
The VXT has never, AFAIK, been in an accident

And as far as I recall he bought it new.

I've e-mailed the advertiser to see what exactly they mean by "VCAR", and to see how many owners it has had, and any other info on it.

I spoke to the seller two days ago. He said it was a lease car but no more than that but at that price I'd already guessed it was a repo.

He said it had had one owner. Althought he describes the condition of the car as AI he had no idea of whether it was stone chipped or not. He offered to 'count' the stone chips for me and seemed to treat the question as a joke

During the conversation I got the impression he knew very little about cars, and nothing about VXTs.

"How much tread on they tyres? Don't know, those low profile tyres always look as if they've got no tread to me." Not really a salesman type response.

I asked where he and the car was and he said Uxbridge close to Heathrow but did not volunteer and address or the name of a business which I thought strange as I had said I was considering whether or not to travel down to look at the vehicle.

When I asked how to get there he wasn't sure of which junction off the M40 to take, didn't volunteer to give specific instructions, and again no specific location address, and remained vague.

In conversation it was also clear that the quoted price is still negotiable.

In all his responses were not sufficiently encouraging to convince me to take a day off work and 500 mile round trip. :(

He sounds like a proper old school motortrader! they won't entertain anyone else other than someone who calls up to ask if he prefers £20 or £50 notes.

no he didnt, it was virtually new. He got it from some dealer up north who described it as 'immaculate' - needless to say, it wasnt. He def had the B4D VX plate on it when i saw it in April time....

Looks like he had another write off this year in August in it

So Pete wrote off 2 VX's in under a year? sheesh  No wonder PVD went under, was probably due to their car insurance premium

My typo with the insurance write-off date it was written off 26/03/03. This is the situation the car advertised for £14995 is a VX220 Turbo chassis no. WOLOEBR973N0006015 it has had the plate B4DVX on it since 20/02/04. It original plate was VK03EUY this number plate has a finance interest on it with Lex vehicle leasing, its likely that this has been settled but Hpi records have not been updated. The confusion is because of the plate transfer, the fact of the matter is that the car advertised is an insurance write category C.
