Yes, headlights, that never ending saga of a topic somewhere else.

Tonight I had to move a couple of cars around after dark to get my daily runner in to the garage to change the reluctor rings.  So for the first time in about fiteen years I had to move the VX about on the road with the headlights on.  I was shocked - I really had forgotten how dismally dim they are compared with cars with 'proper' lights.  They're like candles in comparison.  Not to mention that my 'new' lenses from someone here are 'crazed' beyond belief and, one headlight is absolutely full of moisture and needs the lens removing, drying out, and re-sealing for the umpteenth time.  Definitely SORN at the end of the month.

I rebuilt one of mine a while back. Previous owner had that fly eye sh*t on them, which totally destroyed them. Plus the RHS dipped beam unit was bodged in due to all it's brackets being broke. Just a total mess.

I certainly wouldn't say the rebuild is perfect, it did take ages, it was a nightmare. But overall when all freshened up the light output isn't too bad. Naturally you don't get quite a good a spread as a car with higher up headlights. I guess that's to be expected from a very low headlight though.

But I didn't think it was terrible at all. Still the LHS to do too.

Eltech told me a month ago the problem is, that to comply with regulations in the UK market would require an investment of £20k minimum.  So, that's a lot of headlights he'd have to be guaranteed sell to just break even.  So, don't hold your breath.

There's a bloke on here, hiding in the shadows, that's had a lot more than 20k handed over to him. Not much delivered though!

I've got three or four headlights that just need re-assembling,; looking at prices on Fleabay perhaps I shouldre-asseble and offer for sale at a sensible price.

I bought some new headlight covers from a well known seller off ebay. They looked OK, but after my headlights were refurbished and they were used, christ did look they looked crazed as sh*t. I was really fooking annoyed to be honest as paid top whack price wise and really did expect a better product. Totally pissed off that £250 was effectively wasted and maybe, accounts for my lack of patience / tolerance re the "other" headlight thread.
