Just thinkin what bits i can remove from the car? I have thought about these so far,
Boot liner and carpet,
door innards,
passenger seat (but i really don't want to take this out),
if it's hot don't take the roof,
How come the elise is so much lighter?
Any ideas?
Mike.

here is some old stuff rehashed
the Engine weighs 40 kgs (139kgs) more than the Elise K series (99kgs)
The body panels are thicker and denser to the tune of 9kgs
The ABS support units weigh 9 kgs
VX wheels 17" - bigger and heavier too
The rear subframe is bigger on the VX to accomodate the bigger engine.
looking through some old c n cc mags(nov2002), there is some vx sprint set up info if anyone is interested
toe settings front .20 toe in rear .20 toe in
weight distribution-as long as this makes sense to you
front
39%
149kgs 185kgs
273kgs 242kgs
61%
total 849kgs (has got a rollcage, 7x16 front and 8x17 rear)
and here are sport 135 s2 ellie's for comparison
front
38%
141kgs 151kgs
237kgs 229kgs
62%
total 758kgs
Steel subframe for the engine accounts for some extra weight as does the engine itself (heavier than the K series) transmission is probably more substantial too, would definately account for the positive gearchange as opposed to the rather weedy Elise shift
the 2 bodyshells are almost twice as thick on the VX...
lots of different peeps opinions there for ya
cheers
