It will be a bit weird ordering a Vauxhall for 25 grand I must admit.

Lol, actually I thought the same about a Caterham :)

Not sure the VXt and the Caterham have anything in common except number of seats to be honest. VX is a road car through and through that can be used for track fun while a Crate is a track star that can be driven on roads (barely) unless you're very committed. I reckon , in fact, despite its extra grunt, the VX-t is more of a 'lifestyle' compromise than the base VX, with its hi-options interior, and it weighs nearly twice what an SV does. Only the performance will be similar, not the nature of the drive IMO. If I wanted a track car I'd buy a used cater-field, a trailer and a towing hitch for whatever spam chariot was my main car.

I was reading the article in EVO about the DAX rush, now that looks mad and not too expensive in self build form. Anyone had any experience with these cars? John.

I understand from porker enthusiasts that the 944 was the best handling Porsche ( and possibly FE/RWD coupe) ever. Duff looker though, agreed.

Nearly...that accolade goes to the 968 Clubsport - if it didn't have as nearly a boring engine sound as a VX 220 it'd be a great car in all respects...still a good buy and far far better than an E36 M3 and king of the coupes

Oh it's that bloody awful Clarkson bloke. I thought we'd got rid of you. Just wait till I tell Vicki... Have to agree with Mr Beater though. Those VX things are butt ugly next to the timeless Porker. Now that's a REAL sportscar. Bit pricey mind. But then how can you put a price on a badge like Porsche? Always gets the Fillies in the sack. Never fails.

The only reason your VX isn't common is because nobody in their right minds would fork out that sort of cash for a Vauxhall. Badge addict? No. It's called having a brain. Porsches on the other hand (too common, hahaha) I suspect, are worth every penny. EEG flatliners. You are right. Barely a pulse on this BBS.

Please stick to playing with your matchbox versions of the cars we actually drive and keep your juvenile comments to yourself. Thanks.

Now that hurt. As if Matchbox would bother with the 220 anyway.

 I've only had my VX since september 02, and I couldn't be happier. Sure all cars have good and bad about them but it all depends on what your looking for. Badge snobs shouldn't plague those that now own what shall be the classic car of the future... Lets face it how many of those common Elise's do we see on the road nowadays!!!!

Y'know, your educated and reasoned debate has made me reconsider my choice of car , gentlemen - no, no longer will I choose the prettier, safer, faster, better handling VX, instead I must join the herd and get a slower, shoddier, less refined kit-car Elise instead ! OK, I won't have as much fun driving, nor will I be safe should I meet with an accident NOR would I cover ground as quickly as I would in a VX but at least I'll have the approval of people I don't respect like you. :D You folks and your 'banter' perfectly exemplify the reasons why Elise ownership is anathema to me - its a smug , self-congratulatory club of girlfriend-free twenties and mid life crises fortysomethings who don't realise that wider society sees Elises as being kit cars, and who are so threatened by the VX ' superior capabilities in a GM badge that , like a bunch of monkeys they join together to throw sh1t at the approaching threat in helpless desperation. :P
