Be careful drilling holes through the rear bulkhead... The petrol tank sits behind that.
Also, it's probably best not to pass large currents through the chassis. It's best to run a dedicated earth cable to the battery.

I agree it is best to run a negative to the battery, but why does the earth need to go there too?

The negative is the vehicles 'earth or ground' I seem to remember that when installing an amp in one of my last cars the recommendation was to keep the negative/ground connection as short as possible though it was capable of producing over 1000watts peak power @2 ohm stable.I agree it is best to run a negative to the battery, but why does the earth need to go there too?
If i was installing a fairly high powered amp in the vx, would probably mount it on some mdf which could also accomodate crossovers etc then mount the whole caboodle on the bulkhead behind the seats using decent amount of velcro/sticky pad. aternatively use screws but depends if you would want holes in the bodytub.
Bootmount is ok for small output amps but ideally you need a bit of air movement to cool the amps heatsink.
Still have some kit lying around if anyones interested? trade with vx bits?

thanks for the advice guys.
am going to hide the amp behind the passenger seat.
is there an obvious way of running/ hiding the pre-outs to the head unit and the power/ earth wires through to the battery?
obviously I'd rather not be cutting any holes on the car to get through to the battery, are there any unused grommets - things like that?
I know that power leads need to be kept away from signal cables, so presumably you can run the power and earth cables, back to the battery, down one side under the trim and the other cables down the centre? or round the other side? what do you think??

I think this link might prove useful.
