Macca :o How old are you? or do you just change your cars instead of washing them

I know, I know

Im 36 and not a dealer or anything. I guess i just get bored of looking at the same dashboard :D

At one stage my insurance broker saw his arse with me cos i'd be ringing him to change my car before i'd received the cover note for the last one!!

I also have a company Toyota Avensis which is due for change in July 05. i've had it on 3yr contract so as you can imagine im tearing my hair out with the thing by now  Next co. car is from vauxhall / saab stable but my boss has already told me not to raise my hopes........ Nothing with 2 doors

Gonna try and push for a Zafira GSI otherwise its a "sporty" vectra :sleepy:

Well Here's my list, guess Ive been bit of a triumph man ! Triumph Herald estate (with spitfire engine) Triumph Vitesse 1600 (handled well as long as you had a bag or two of cement in the boot) Triumph Vitesse 2.0 Lt Triumph GT76 Mk 3 (mini 'E' type, beat the pants off the MG) Triumph Stag (a good concept car, shame about the engine and build quality) VW Storm (while in USA) CJ5 Jeep 4.2 Lt (really evil road handling) VW Sorrocco (wife's car) Tolbot Horizon 1.1 (slime green, a really terrible car, bits fell off all the time) Triumph TR4A (3 years of restoration, more rattles than the VX, but really liked it as it had the same engine as my T20 tractor :D ) Volvo 240 GLT (longest owned, and still going !) Skoda Fabia 1.9TDI (a really excellent car) Citreon BX (didn't change the timing belt at 67,000 miles, now at crushers) VX 220 turbo (just brilliant :D )

This is a *very sad list* (but strangely compelling). I find I can't really remember quite a few by name as they were in foreign parts and the names mean nothing here anyway. The best of these was a magic Ford Australia station waggon based on a Cortina but stretched to a 4 litre straight 6. It was really worth driving. Daimler Light 16 ~ 1934 Jowett Bradford ~ 1947 BSA Scout Series 1 ~ 1929 - FWD, independent suspension Jaguar SS 1.5 litre ~ 1947 - gun metal grey - beautiful car Hillman Hunter - more than it sounds Hillman Imp - mini eater... Triumph Spitfire / MG Midget - err, least said Triumph TR2 - rough and tough Triumph TR3A - faster and rougher and tougher Austin Healey 3000 - oh god was this a rough tough bad ass motor Lotus Elan S4 SE - try one and sell the rough and the tough that afternoon Ford Capri 3000 - great road car. Not bad for lapping the Nordschlieffe if it belonged to Avis Lotus Elan S3 - simpler than S4 but an excellent car MGB GT - crap car that worked and worked MGB V8 GT - a good car that worked and worked and blew most into the weeds Jaguar Mk 10 - a great car particularly for towing Mini Cooper - London whizzer Jensen Healey - Only "sports car" you could buy new in Oz - bit of a parson's egg Ford Escort Mexico - great little car Bolwell Nagari - you won't believe me if I tell you - a sort of antipodean Elan with a 350 V8 and a 3 speed gear box. Err, it had enough power. Lamborgini Espada - When it was on song (which wasn't often) the sound and the fury made up for everything else. The cost of keeping it that way caused me to sell it before criminality set in. Ford Falcon V8 GT - Very sound heavy weight Aus road car. Fast. Holden Monaro - Very sound heavy weight Aus road car. Fast. Rover 3500 S Pug 305 Pug 406 Daimler Double Six Jaguar XJS V12 Cabriolet Jaguar XJS V12 Jaguar XJS V12 Toyota Celica Gt Toyota Land Cruiser Amazon Renault Horse Box VX 220 Turbo Lotus type 51 Lola T202 Lola T270 (Super Vee) Royale RP14 March 733 (movable feast as a model) The Matich A51 A few bikes - Ducatti 900 SS most exciting (terrifying) I hope that causes a certain amusement. As to age, I'm not sure now I think of it there wasn't a 1934 Lanchester and 1928 Austin 7 in there somewhere. Wilson pre-selector gearbox. Yes, must have been the Lanchester. Yes, 16th birthday. Hrrm, its not as bad or as long as I thought. Regards - Ian

Hrrm. It sort of occurs to me that most people will never have *heard* of some of the v.old cars I had as a teenager / student let alone know what they look like. I have found some archive snaps n the web for disbelievers in the existence of Jowett and BSA etc.

Here is what the Daimler looked like:

http://www.gdfcartop...temid/285249069

Here are some Jowetts although I can't find a Bradford:

http://www.jowettjup....uk/jup_pix.htm

And here is a BSA Scout - a series 6 very sophisticated:

http://www.motorbase...id/-1961935245/

and here is the blessed Jaguar SS 1 & 1/2 litre:

http://www.motorbase...icle/by-id/905/

They really did make cars like that and they smelt wonderful!

Kind regards - Ian

All my main cars have had far far far to much money spent on them. Nothing stays standard for long. All have had competion stereo installs, except the westfield. Nova SR: Fisrt car so built for handling as insurance was expensive, it did have a 188BHP 2.0l 16v in the end. Renault 5 Gt Turbo: Everything removed and smoothed, 191BHP Cavalier GSi Turbo: Front wheel drive, Loads done, 321BHP, BANG at 1.8bar, new engine 268BHP Subaru Version 5 Sti Type R: 317BHP, 0-60 in 4.3, spent loads and loved it with all my heart :( Yamaha R6: New rear can and stolen before i could mod it. Golf GTi Turbo: 221BHP, 19's,suspension,etc. Bored me to tears. Westfield SEW: 170BHP, loads and loads done to it. Never used it. VX220 Turbo. There has been plenty of boring run around cars awell, but nobody is interested in them.

Another pic and yes it did have a smoke machine in it. I'd also like to point out it wasnt only a show car. I drive all my cars hard, a bit too hard sometimes as my engines could probably tell you.
