IVE JUST GOT A VXT AND I WAS JUST LOOKING OVER THE ENGINE AND SEEING HOW TO LOWER INLET AIR TEMPS WHEN I NOTICED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY WAS HEATED OF THE COOLANT IF YOU RAN A BYPASS ON THIS, IT WOULD LOWER INLET AIR TEMP AND INCREASE ENGINE OUT PUT ,LOOKS LIKE A VERY EASY MOD,I GUESS THE IDEA OF THIS IS TO STOP THE BUTTERFLY FREEZING IN VERY LOW TEMP CONDITONS ON START,HAS ANYONE TRYED THIS YET.

IF YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE THROTTLE BODY ITS HEATED OF THE ENGINE COOLANT,BUT Y,ALL THE TROUBLE AND COST TO LOWER THE INLET TEMP TO HEAT IT BACK UP JUST BEFORE IT ENTERS THE ENGINE,I CANT SEE THE POINT,IVE JUST ORDER ONE OF THEM BOOST/AIR TEMP GAUGES,THINK ILL RUN SOME INLET TEMP CHECKS BEFORE AND AFTER THE BYPASS THINK IT SHOULD DROP IT 5 or 10 C,WELL I HOPE SO. ANY ONE KNOW WHAT THE MAX BHP OUT OF THE Z20LET UNIT ? AND DO THE VXTs HAVE WEAK GEAR BOXS? PS ANYONE NO WEAR DO LSDs FOR THE BOX TOO? CHEERS :tt:

But its not a carb engine the heat off the inlet air is at the lowest is about 20 c upwards so there would be no chance of iceing, unless in very low temps -10,-15 out side would inlet temps be round freezing point in the throttle housing, anyway ill give it ago and see what happens

Actually removing the coolant pipe is a good idea, as the vxt uses fuel injectors the throttle body cannot freeze as only air is passing through it. In the USA they get an extra 15bhp from the corvette with this mod :o Definately in the wrong thread this one :beat:

With respect to the throttle body heating the charge air up, unless you running a particually effective intercooler i would expect both the temperature of the coolant and that of the charge air to be in the region of 80 - 90 'C
