Was surprised at my 20k service that they did not seem to change my air filter - it wasn't itemised on the bill. Is it easy to do on an NA? When should you change them? Are they expensive? BTW, I was told i needed new pads at my service, but i said i would do them myself. Have recently uprated them myself to Mintex 1144 and the originals were no more than 50% gone!!! :o fcuking dealers, is there anyone i can write to at vauxhall? Take it easy. Jim

Jim
POP, whip of the back wheel, take off the inner liner and the air filter box is there right in front of you, 4 spring clips (from memory) and the top cover is off, then you can replace the filter :P
Some say you can do it from the top, sod that, too many cut hands to do that :beat:

NA filter housing is slightly more accessible from the engine bay than the turbo, so it is possible without removing the wheeel and arch liner thumbsup But as Bob says, easy enough either way. PS I think it is a 4th service or 40,000 mile service item... the service book will confirm. I replace mine annually though, easy job and less than £10 I think.

Yes, definetly. To do it over the bay is the more called the "Tim-Taylor-method" :D I have done this :( Poor boy, to open the clips is just to manage, but to close them even the last one at the left further side ... Passangers will think you ... your baby cause of your unnatural position in (!) the car :o ;)

Do you mean the heavy "Tim-Taylor-Method" ? If so, sorry, only one side is not enough. The Material is too strong and your hands will bleeding soon... :(

If you look under the car on the near side about level with the door handle you will find the jack up point, and yes both wheel's come up at the same time. thumbsup

i dont know the precise fiure but I think pads should be replaced at about 70% wear.

If they're 50% worn the garage will take the view that they could be gone before the next service and therefore recomend replacement.

If you are going to replace the air cleaner Bob's way, make sure you have some spare plastic clip's for the wheel arch liners, as these are easily broken. thumbsup
