But not unusual for Spax IMO, I'm afraid.Sounds like one is leaking, that's interesting !!

Agreed, I don't ever use Bilstein, or really promote it. There are better value for money shocks on the market. My own experience of Spax hasn't been great, and they do tend to leak more than a lot of other shocks I've come across.every batch of shocks always has some rotten ones....
bilstein is no exception;
IMO they grew to "cult " status among hot hatches upgraders, but they tend to be overpriced for what they offer...
I submitted my spax to all sort of track tortures and so far no probs.
stock bilsteins are a cheap compromise for decent road handling and nothing more.
fine for the avg road enthusiast, need major upgrade if track usage is planned, be it spax, JRZ, nitron.....they all work fine as long as they are set-up properly.
cost is another issue...spax has a very fav. cost/effectiveness ratio, and I'll replace'em in two years time anyway, do to their extreme use on track.
My point was just that Bilstein are a good quality shock - sure every brand of shock can leak, but Bilstein's do last well. If I was to replace the Bilstein's on my car, it would be with a premium brand, which I do not feel Spax are.
away now if you want....
