Put a wheel back on the other day and got called to the phone just at the very end of tightening the nuts. Answered phone and forgot to remove locking nut key before going out for a blast. Doh! - stupid or what? :beat: Anyway I've ordered a new one; just wondered if anyone's bought one and how much they paid in view of Vauxhall's 'flexible' pricing policy. Thanks Eric

I thought that all these keys were different, or did you have the number of the key. I checked the one in my VXR and there is no number on it. Let me know how you get on!

Interesting... Just realised I never got given this. Does the NA VX come with locking wheels as standard? Is the key stored in a standard place in the car?

Do you only get 1? I got my wheel nut key in a bag with the code if I need a replacement - haven't checked in the 'special' place yet.

I lost my locking nut wheel key just before Christmas. So after battling to find out the code, I ordered one from the security bolt manufacturer and one from my local Vauxhall dealer just to be sure. The one from the manufacturer was delivered in two days from Germany and cost 18 Euros. The one from Vauxhall arrived at the dealer a week ago and cost £15. At least I've got a spare now! So on the cost front, both were reasonable but if you need to take your wheels off any time soon call McGard!

Having read about the problems before on another thread I went into the dealer & asked for the code (it not being on the lock itself) but they can't get it! So I am going to have to change the 4 locking wheel nuts just in case I loose the one that came with the car! :beat:

How the hell did you get in contact with McGuard? I've tried to e-mail them, but no response...

Called them on the toll free number on the following page:

McGard Customer Service Page

It was one of those times when I was ashamed at my total lack of foreign language skills as the German lady spoke to me in perfect English!

Edit: That link didn't work properly, after following it, click on the 'Service' item in the menu on the left.

I lost the Vauxhall locking nut and was able to remove the rest of the Vauxhall ones with an 18mm socket from the market! :o Not so happy about this I when to Halfords to buy the Mcguard ones that are much better! The next time the nut was lost I called McGuard and the replacement was with me in two days! (Not me who lost the nut the second time) Marc

If you get one that easily you'll be a lucky chap. Mine had to be welded off!

There's only 10 keys that cover all the cars so get together at group meeting and you stand a good chance of fiding a key that fits. Worked for me and I had already bought a replacement set from Halfords (McGards). Changed them in the car park. Then I set about getting a pair of keys for the original bolts so I'm back to the original fitting. It can be done but you are wasting your time asking Vauxhall for the key code, they don't know !!!!!!!!!! Graham.

Well the key came (4 Days) :D That'll be 25 pounds Sir That's very expensive? Yes they are rather Sir. Do you know why this particular one is expensive? No Sir. It's expensive because I know someone who has just bought one from a Vauxhall dealer for £15-00, that's why it's expensive :poke: It's small things like this that tell what sort of attitude a dealership has towards customers. Whether they provide a good service, or whether they're looking for opportunities to rip their customers off; d'you understand what I'm saying? :beat: Silence.

Gotta say how impressed I am with McGard. After discovering I'd lost my locking wheel nut key, and needing rear pads and a tyre, I emailed info@mcgard.de late on Wednesday last week. Got a reply first thing next morning (from Tanja) telling me to send them my name, address, credit card details (for 18 Euros) and a photo of the bolt.

Sent that to them late on Thursday, and Monday morning I had a key that fits perfectly! All the way from Germany to the UK. Impressed - and no scratches, ruined bolts or other tools required.

Right, where are those instructions for changing the rear pads? The track day is rapidly approaching! :P

I sent McGard a photo last night. Got a reply this morning asking for address and cc details! "-one key costs Euro 18,00 / two keys Euro 30,00 (about GBP 12,00 / GBP 20,00) -we could despatch the key between 24 hours by mail after we received the complete order details." Note new details "Tanja Stahnke Customer Service McGard Deutschland GmbH Tel.: +49 (0) 71 33 / 90 19 35 Fax: + 49 (0) 71 33 / 90 19 32 NEW NEU NEW NEU NEW NEU NEW NEU NEW NEU McGard Deutschland GmbH Nordstraße 12 D-74226 Nordheim Wir sind umgezogen * We moved * Wir sind umgezogen* We moved -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: info.europe [mailto:info.europe@mcgard.de] " including new phone number and new email! Brilliant service so far. I'll let you know when they arrive - I ordered 2

Have to agree with the sentiments of Mcgard - I emailed them one day, the next i had an email telling me what to do, they seem to have there customer care hat screwed on pretty well........ I ended up using an 18mm socket to remove the original ones and put the new vauxhall ones on which have hundreds of different combinations......... just remember where you put the code for the key!
