Hey there, We always hear about torque and BHP of tuned VX and VXTs but we don't see any 0-60 times. Just wondered if anyone had recorded any? Cheers, Paul.

not sure anyone has really, some people may say but the times were done by a mate with a watch. Not the most accurate form! Others have done 1/4m at Santa Pod. Have a search for santa pod, its all in there!!

For the N/A most people record about 6,7-6,9 s or the 0-60 travel, far from the facory figure 5,9 s. The problem is that u have to hit 3rd gear before u can reach 60 MPH. The german GT180 made the travel in 6,1 s. Far more interesting, I think, is the quartemile

I disagree that under 6.7 isn't attainable for a n/a .In standard form the car hits approx 58 mph in 2nd gear and then hits the rev limiter. But when mildly tuned with regal or the like ,with exhaust, ind kit and most importantly chip that increases the rev limit , it is attainable to get near 6 secs. With the rev limit slightly increased you will be able to hit 60 in 2nd gear.

Then yours is unique!! Congrats!! Vauxhall must clearly have put an extra tooth on some of your gears!!

A lot of us people here bought the G-tech Pro thingy and tested it on our cars. We all got 6,8-6,9 s to 60. Some motor magazines have also recorded 6,9 s. But I think MotorTrend had a 6,2 s figure measured, but god knows how they dropped the clutch?? :o

The 180GT car recorded 6,1 s with some 180 hp at the flywheel.

My goal is to be in the 13:s on the quartermile this year.

I agree that the mid-6's are the norm for the na, although my best effort on a good day was recorded at 5.95 using my Beltronics FX2 thingy...

one thing I have also wondered about is if I tuned my n/a vx to 200 bhp which is approx the same power as a turbo. Would my 0 - 60 time be similar?? Or would it still be way off due to the extra torque a turbo provides?? The n/a is lighter than the turbo so would this compensate slightly.

You would be hampered by the short 2nd gear / rev limiter still...

Turbo has 50lbft extra torque avail at ~2000 where as NA peak is at 4000 - so if you had similar torque at max power, you'd have to launch at higher rpm. I think :)

Cheers, Paul.

I wonder, how I will end up with my VX220 SC and 250 BHP. It is still much lighter than a Turbo. I will try with a GTECH next week. Are the GTECH results as reliable as the GTECH Pro? #2177

Heh heh - can't wait for that! :D

Although with out a rev limit increase you'll probably suffer from the short 2nd gear...

wow, that is ballistic, 0-100 in 10.89 secs Imnotworthy

any tips on your starts??

Have you tried a 2nd gear start? - i have an excel program which works out acceleration from gears power etc its pretty accurate - removing the 1st gear ratio knocks .3 sec off 1/4 mile - that would get you into 12's :o
