Just a thought, but could i get someone in the know to bend me up a straight through exhaust. If i bought an ex-standard downpipe from Regal (or wherever) then chopped the triangular manifold to pipe joint (so it would be easy to put my original exhaust back on for MOT time!) Could you just have a pro bend some tubes with no obstructions? Has anyone ever ran a straight through pipe? (on any car) What silencers would be advisable? Could i get away with none? Will i get flames? What happens to the sensors? Will it shag the ECU? Any ideas people? Many thanks, Mike :D

You can't run without silencers of some sort. You wouldn't believe the noise. With no cat (either original or sports cat) you will have the OBD11 check engine light come on. You won't get much in the way of flames unless you are running a turbo with the ECU set up to run really rich - around 15% CO. (I do have a video of me with a fully decatted Impreza at Donington with 2' flames coming out of the exhaust on the overrun into Redgates :D ).

had a little fiddle with the zorst the other day-basically took the silencer off to see if a straight through was an option. lets just say i took it up the road and back and killed six pensioners waiting for the bus-bloody funny though, would put nascar to shame :jump: but a friend has my old cat pipe to make a straight through manifold to backbox pipe with sensor drilling and flexi bit-making it out of stainless so i will post it when he knows roughly how much it will cost if anyone is interested as for flames i think ricky has been spotted flamin' :flame: (no cat possibly) cheers d

Do you think that if i removed the cat (i have heard there is a cat replacement pipe out there somewhere) then I would have no obstructions in the tubes (ie straight through) Or will the scilencer be restricting things? I have heard it's like a maze inside there. I'm not too technical!! cheers Mike. :D

removing the kat+pre-kat makes very little difference in noise. a little deeper maybe, but that's all.

it all rests on backbox choice.....
