i saw a post on another forum that an exhaust company require a VX to develop an exhaust system for the VXT - i rang them and it should be ready in 6 weeks thumbsup

However, Thorney saw it and has send me an aggresive mail saying -

"A warning shot"

Despite my olive branches offered to call a truce thus far you have seemed keen to carry on being having a go at me. I've got no problem ignoring it, your choise.

So, now I've seen you're getting a cheap exhaust from Blueflame I'll be very clear that if you try to use the VX forum to promote it then that will be in breach of the commercial posts rule and they will be deleted.

I figured it was better to simply tell you now rather than let it turn into a fight later.

So much for an open forum to discuss aftermarket VX products thumbsdown thumbsdown

How is that agressive? There is no problem discussing any modification on here, but he's just reminding you that to try and sell these products without giving anything back to the site (such as sponsorship) is a no no. Despite what some people on here think, this site does cost money to run, and Thorney has to cover these costs. He does this by selling advertising space, and therefore it's not fair to the companies that do advertise to allow free advertising to happen.

I presume Thorney fears that, if you are being the "guinea pig" and getting the exhaust cheap as a result, you might feel obliged to plug it heavily on their behalf. I can understand that he would not be happy if you "overdid it".

I would, however, have hoped he would have no issue with your informing us of this new option and your impressions – as long as you didn't go as far as to make it your signature and go on about it all the time.

I would have tried to agree definitions by PM with JT perhaps before "going public" – sure it is just a question of agreeing definitions of "reasonable" mentioning during open discussion/blatant advertising. :)

Did Jim Cross get this mail when he had a zorst made? Or Spedster with his new airbox? I doubt it very much - thorney has a problem with me and why i only had a precat with a stage 2

I have no affiliation to the company, so why would i promote it over and above giving a general review to the VX public?

Bengie - IMO it is aggresively worded like " a warning shot" and "i will be very clear..."

If he did (and I don't know whether or not he did) then maybe he was mature enough to read it, understand it, and ensure that he posted appropriately. Unlike you, posting it publicly, and moaning about it like a spoilt little child. Why is him being clear aggressive, surely it's best that the line is drawn properly so that there can be no confusion later.

funny when this site started up and how it was original posted on the yahoo site, it was to be an open forum .this is what encouraged me and a few of the yahoo crowd to come across ........ must admit it becoming clear that only sponsored ideas can only be posted which will mean that we will never learn of the other options out there thay may fit our own personal bill/views...

Maybe, but he's also protecting this website, and that is all that should concern us.

Out of interest, could you tell us, honestly, why you're going for this Blueflame exhaust? Figures to suppose this answer will help us to see if your actions are justified.

Well, I think I was pretty enthusiastic about the Delta-Motor SC and posted loads about it without ever being contacted by Thorney, let alone being told to desist.

I would argue that no-one has any issue with open debate – it's just not that fair to try to plug things for companies who don't contribute to the forum with free ads when you have some interest yourself. Seems reasonable to me.

Interesting. I have made several efforts for us to put our differences behind us all of which have been ignored by you Paul. You have also been very offensive about in posts about me to the extent that Rubber had to moderate them for being so. I take it on the chin, you don't like me? Fine I'll live with it. So I see that you have jumped on the chance for a cheap system with an exhaust manufacturer, excellent, I applaud your keeness to get a good deal. Considering our history I thought it wise to remind you on the rules on commercial posts rather than start another fight and this is your response? Did I say in that PM that you would be stopped from posting anything about it? No. I did say that the standard rules would apply to commercial posts on this site? Yes. And you will abide by them or I or the other moderators react. The same rules apply to everyone and yes, Jim and I did have a conversation about his system and we both agreed there was a line between information and information posted for commercial gain. Have I deleted any of his subsequent posts when he mentions his exhaust? No. Have I or any of the moderator team amended any of his posts regarding his exhaust? No. So again your comment sugesting this forum is not open and free seem to simply relate to you and no-one else. I couldn't give a rats arse if you hated me for all time, but at least keep your comments to ones based on fact and not your own twisted version of it, IMO you need help, professional in nature and lots of it thumbsup

Unless I am missing something, we are all free to talk about after-market VX products, whether they sponsor the site or not. An example of this might be this thread, which has now informed me of a potential new option! P.S. Is this actually a clever advertising campaign? :o

i wonder if its worth starting up a true open forum where all products can be openly talked about from all companies supplying anything that is of use to us all...remember that there are people from other countries that visit this site looking for advice.....

Minime - thats pretty rich coming from you mate. How much does Regal pay you to post on this site? Do you pay full retail prices on your work done by them? Do people know you don't pay labour charges? Have I deleted any of your posts which promote Regal products? Have a look, see how many posts minime has done that mention or refer to Regal. If the forum was as you suggest I would be deleting all of these - perhaps I should? This forum costs money. Have either of you just written a cheque for £540 to pay for more disk space and monthly bandwidth charges? Have either of you just committed yourself to a £6k contract wih Bruntingthorpe so that we can have a National day? This forum has 3 kinds of people. Those who give, those who take and those who take and then complain about it the first 2 are fine but the latter just typifies this.

Most forums that rely on sponsorship for survival have a similar policy on commercial ads. I am a moderator on another site with a similar policy (that is much more keenly implemented than on here). If anything can be posted, then no-one will bother sponsoring the site and then it will die - simple.

I think posts about your car's development are fine Steve, but when you are just promoting new products it is taking the pi$$ a little. I haven't seen Regal add anything to this community or support any meets and yet they/you seem to be focused on pushing the boundaries on what is reasonable to post. It seems that you never offer any advise or information that is not about promoting your short list of prefered (sponsoring?) suppliers...

I'm not sure i'm following this thread, haven't we all at some point promoted a company on here? Only last week I asked for some advice on whether to purchase a K & N 57i kit, you could say I promoted K & N on that occasion. Looking back at the threads for just over last week and I see mention to:- OZ Wheels AP Discs Plans Motorsport Regal Wicked Wheels AMD Motek Hitec Magnex Piper Do all these companies support this website in terms of sponsonship then? So that mentioning them is then allowed/ok. I was under the impression that the whole idea of the site was to discuss and share information concerning all aspects of VX ownership and information about a new exhaust system coming onto the market would and should be shared with all members so that members of this site can then make an informed decision. Completely agreed thumbsup

and where did I say that was not the case here?

and where did I say Cheeky couldn't post about?

THis is an issue Cheeky has with me, if he wants to fight it out in the open then fine but he should at least fight it on the facts not some warped twisted concept basis of reality he calls home :beat:

right, not interested in the personal issues between people here but am concerned when they start to alter the mood of this forum. It seems to me that everyone is effectively arguing the same point - that being that comercial posting is not allowed without prior consent (which of course involves the exchange of money to keep the site running), but that we are all still free to discuss products from anywhere (I love my Regal exhaust by the way :P ) It seems to be the emotive language and undertones being employed/interpreted by all parties that is fueling this and I think it will be detrimiantal to the forum if it continues Personally don't care if you agree to disagree, ignore each other forever more, or beat the sh*t out of each other in a pub car park. Can we keep this a friendly place to be please :) thumbsup chinky chinky

ok thorney....put it this way i have paid for everything that i have had done to my car and can show all the reciepts too ( apart from the latest ones head/cams/quaife/clutch which i am waiting for the final bill for!) and believe it or not i have paid for all the labour charges too as i wanted these products.... i have just parted with £5500 with plans for their setup which i am pleased about... i was about to purchase a wing from you but that money will now go to another...tough hey... about other things i approached spax about a system that didnt exist...i approached itg about something that didnt exist....race logic too!.....i have done a lot to provide altenative products my link with regal is that they are on my doorstep...they provide me with a good service they also do develop products for our cars, all of which has helped push along other products from other companies.....competition is good for all i think i have given an awful lot to this forum as well and ps..i dont think i have ever slated anyone for any development work that has been done...
