Hello all! The better than expected weather last weekend had me scrabbling to take the hard top off for the first time since I bought my VX last September and go for a blast down to the South Coast. I dashed indoors to grab some bits and pieces before setting off and, in my haste, forgot that I had locked the car when I reached in to open the boot. The alarm went off and I quickly reset it with the key fob. I pulled into petrol station a few hours later and noticed that once I had switched the engine off, the alarm LED came on for about 5 seconds, flashed 3 times, then came on for another 5 seconds. This pattern repeated a few more times before the LED finally went off. Unless I'm going mad, I don't remember the LED coming on before as soon as I switched off the engine. Locking the door and setting the alarm caused the LED to flash normally. I'm not too worried about this, because the car still moves :D and I guess the alarm must still be working, but wondered if this has happened on anyone else's VX. I had picked the car up from VXL that morning after they had it to repair a crack in the rear clam shell (someone backed into the side of the car in a car park, not having seen me  ) and they mentioned that the battery had run flat, but I don't suppose that is the cause of the blinking LED. As a law abiding newbie, I have duly searched the site, but haven't come across anything similar.

Once you've triggered the alarm, it does this little series of flashes to tell you that the alarm was triggered. There are actually different types of flashes (like morse code) that indicate which sensor it was that triggered the alarm. Anyway..... Put the key in the ignition and switch on but don't start the engine. Now press the alarm button on your keyring. You should get one more flash and hey presto it's all reset with no more annoying flashing (apart from the usual one that tells you the alarm has been set).
