thanks to Brian I found this racing batteries.... B)

http://www.mdsbatter...uctGroupID=1081

now, consider the speedy has a 205mmx170x150 and 11kg battery,
cold cr. 380A and 45 Ah x hr. capacity....

Top 15 seems the most adequate....at 5,1 kg and 400A cranking....

doubts:

is "A6 male" terminal the right one?

what is the "14Ah" indicated?
whould that be too low compared to the stock 45Ah? (...if comparing same specs...)

any battery expert here? :)

So long as you dont leave it without using it for over about 2 weeks you'll be fine. :-) Get a little trickle charger if you dont use it during the week, but I get the feeling you use it as much as possible!! :D Dont know about the terminals, but the Elises I've seen with this battery have the std connectors

tx Brian, ever heard of lizzies using big-bikes batteries? today I was by battery-shop (run by an enthusiast, big diff!!), and he told me he successfully provided a Lancia Stratos with a Honda Gold Wing battery, (Yuasa) and it runs fine.... the cranking amps is down to 270 A from the 380 of stock VX....wondering if it would work for the 2.2.... sure enough the weight is there, 6 kg! Yeah, some Elises use bike batteries, and infact, some 340R owners use 2 VERY small bike batteries so they dont have to remove the bodywork to slide the battery in. :P

Have you ordered one yet?

mmmm....interesting, paralleling two smaller batteries..... so, will the cranking amps of the two ADD up? ....since it's all a matter of starting the car efficiently, once running the alternator does all the job.... no, I did not order anything yet, waiting for the iridium plugs to arrive (they facilitate the start-up) sure enough tomorrow I will inquire the battery shop for the twin-installation option! paralleling two smaller  batteries.....

60's MG's used two small 6V batteries in series between the rear wheels - good for centre of gravity and weight distribution, but not so good for access. Additional connection between the two is also one more thing to go wrong - I speak from experience.

Securely locating two small batteries could be an issue in the Speedster - I would make sure that the battery shop can offer you a convincing solution as batteries rattling around is definitely not a good idea.

I guess they would be secured togheter with some plastic fasteners....the battery support that keeps it locked down is adjustable in height, so different batteries can be installed, as long as total length does not exceed 210mm....maybe being smaller, they coud be paired up and installed width-wise... well, next week will know better, just recovered the spedy by the dealer, they were  :o  when felt how stiff the gearchange was....whatever....I'm leaving anyway for a 4-days mtb race/weekend, so they can keep it until next week... ;)
