hi all!
i was at the vauxhall heritage showroom today....seen at least 12 turbos....and almost all of thae colours too!
things i noticed today ..
1. the soft/hard top fittings are a lot better ...there is even a rubber cup! at the front of the screen to catch any potential drips from the front of the door!
2. the turbos were fitted with drilled/vented discs....these are apparently avaiable for non turbos too...
3. the new central locking system has the internal door lock on the sterring column
4. asked about the damper setup and was told its a lot firmer!!
5. i asked about what they have pushed the turbo to and was told 230bhp....but they are working at getting more torque....
on another note....
i asked stu harris about any performance engine parts for the 2.2 ......there is apparently a catolgue containing various parts....cylinder heads/cams/pistons etc......
i think now i might get my cylinder head looked at....gas flowed etc.... apparently it is possible to get upto 30bhp plus a good increase in torque...
this might be a good route for n/a to compete with the turbo....less weight plus good power and no lag...might make the car very driveable..

ref the performance bits for the 2.2
There is a GM Performance Parts catalogue and within is pages of info on tuning parts for the various GM produced engines .
The 4cyl section has a section on the L850 lump with several off the shelf parts inc pistons , heads , block , cam blanks etc...
However what is not clear is if these parts (ie head) fit the 2.2 variant as we're not having the 2.0 in n/a form - only the turbo unit that Saab has developed.
Soon as I can I'll get a copy and let you have a look.

........and to think all the Elise owners can do is try to push a little bit more from the Crappy K series without it going POP! (which it will!)
I can't wait to see the Turbo VX, i would love to test one. Perhaps i could find somebody who has them for track days?
Lotus perhaps?

Where is the Vauxhall heritage showroom, and can I just turn up?
I'm strugging on colour choice and if the tubro's are all there then I'd love go and have a look so I can make my mind up.
Stu, thanks for info once again.

Hi All,
The Heritage Centre is based in the car park of Griffin House in Luton. You have to call and arrange a visit if you want to look round, and the VX220's aren't there anymore (they were only there for show days).
Hope this helps
Mike
